Hey there everybody!
This is my second attempt at writing a coherent novel. Bear with me when I say that in this being my second attempt you will not find a copy of my first attempt anywhere unless you come across the stray ash emitted from my fireplace a year ago. Anyway the characters and events in this novel come completely from the author's imagination however similar they may seem to the world or the persons known by the author. I wanted to write a novel that was both suspenseful and at the same time leave a lasting impact on the reader. The main purpose of this novel is entirely pleasurable being in that I don't expect my work to become the basis for a philosophical teaching any time soon. There has yet to be any drawn out thought as to the detailed plot or in depth character development, such attribute will present themselves as I write.
So I encourage you to sit back relax and enjoy my presentation of ___________. (I still have not found a plausible title. However I am struggling between Insane Jinx and Shadowed Light) I encourage you to offer suggestions for a title and to the book itself for I don't think I can complete this task alone. So I encourage you to send reviews, critiques, suggestions, emails and the like.
Prelude:
Captain Gerald McDouglas rose from his cluttered desk of diagnostics, readings, and calculations and made his way down the hall on the 30th level of the Sigmaoasis Research Laboratory. The adjacent rooms were primarily offices where men similar to Gerald spent the majority of their day researching, evaluating and analyzing project efficiency and development.
The lab was built forty years ago and was originally designed as a toxicology and pharmaceutical laboratory for the development of antibiotics and other drugs. The program was closed five years later due to lack in productivity. The underground superstructure remained unoccupied for the majority of its lifespan when, in 2067, the United States government bought the laboratory for the hefty cost of $5.3 billion. Situated on the western coast of the Democratic-Communist country of China, American officials' public statement named the facility's use as a means to research and conduct environmental tests and experiments to contain and treat the Earth's poisoned atmosphere.
Little did the world know the immensity of the project and the effect its success would have on the proliferation of the human species. Little did Gerald know the mental and physical expectations that would be required of him the moment he sat down at the weekly researchers' meeting.
(Mind that the prelude is not complete)
So, I urge you, the reader, to help define the course of this novel. What major incident should plague Gerald and the SRL? An explosion? Military takeover? Futuristic weapon development? Political fiasco? Introduction of antagonist? Does Gerald have personal issues that effect him? Corruption? Trust, or lack thereof? Need for escape? Nuclear threat? Intelligence reports? Weaponry weaknesses? Review or Email me and let me know what you think would be an enthralling step to take in the novel. What would be most interesting? I'll use your responses to help develop my own ideas.
