I gotta write something, or my head will explode...or something else bad
It was dark. Everything was covered in an inky, swirling blackness. Not a single light reached out through the think, black curtain. It stretched on for miles. Not a single soul was in sight. He was all alone..
"Where the hell am I?"
His words were heard by no one. He took a small step forward, and then another, and continued to amble around aimlessly for what felt like hours. He was about to give up, when a towering figure seemed to be standing in the distance.
"P-Papyrus? Is that you bro," he called out. He rushed closer. Sure enough, it was his brother. But, something about him was...off. He didn't have his normal, cheerful expression. This one held no emotion. He stared straight into his eyes, but said nothing.
"Come on Pap, say something... Papyrus?"
Papyrus slowly opened his mouth.
"You let us down, Sans."
"Wh-what...?"
"You failed. You let us die. Why must we pay for your mistakes?"
Suddenly, from the darkness stepped out Toriel, Undyne, Alphys, and Asgore. They had the same, expressionless faces as Papyrus. They all opened their mouths, and spoke in unison.
"Why did you do this to us, Sans?" Then, they all screamed in agony, and began to turn to dust. He tried to back away, but found his feet rooted to the ground. H felt something in his hand. A knife. His hands were covered in dust. All of them were dust now. It was silent again, but he still tried to block out the echoes of their screams. Their dust was on his hands. The screams echoed louder, and louder. But there was no one around. Tears dripped down his face, as he tried to block them out. They got louder. Then, it dawned on him. They were his screams.
He awoke with a start, still screaming. His voice was raw, and scratchy. Tears dripped from his eye sockets. He drew in a shuddered breath, and stopped screaming. He tried to focus on calming his breathing, but that didn't work, and he had another panic attack. He heard footsteps. Oh no. Nonononononononononono. He couldn't face Papyrus. Not after that.
"S-sans? Are you alright...?"
He couldn't answer. His voice failed him. The screaming took t out of him. The doorknob turned. His breathing was quick, and came out in short gasps. His eye was glowing a dull blue, and he quickly tried to cover it, just as Papyrus walked in.
"S-Sans, are you- Oh my God..."
He probably looked like a wreck. A crying, glowing, hyperventilating wreck. But he couldn't stop himself.
"Sans, look at me."
He couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to do it.
"Sans, please."
His brothers dust, on his hands. The image just wouldn't go away.
"Please..."
He slowly brought his head up, and looked his brother in the eyes.
"Sans, are you-"
He couldn't take it anymore. He wrapped his arms around Papyrus, and held him tightly. Papyrus slowly returned the embrace. His breathing began to calm, and his eyes returned to normal, after a few long moments of silence.
"Thank you Papyrus."
I half-assed the ending, but I just had to write something quick. I love this game so much.
