Execution
Today is the day. Dawn has come.
It started out simply enough. A pole, a beam, a rope…no letter of the alphabet thought it would come to this. No-one thought the man would actually be hung. No-one but S, Y, G and Z, standing by the podium smugly in their superior literacy. Judge, jury and executioner. They have judged the player to be poor. They have been convinced of the man's guilt. And now, with the man's head in the noose, the time has come to play the final part of justice's trinity.
Justice...poor J, she's really having a hard time being the first letter of that word.
The rest of the alphabet stands in the crowd, wishing the player had got the word before it was too late. It truly is touching, to see vowels comforting consonants, all jealousy of being more prevalent aside. E is by Q, X is by A…from the most common to the most obscure, all are united in their grief. Heck, even a few punctuation marks have joined the crowd of mourners.
The time has come. The man will hang. And forming the word none thought existed, the dispensers of 'justice' answer its call…
…SYZYGY*
Syzygy-a kind of unity through coordination or alignment. And the word that got me beat in a game of Hangman and inspired this oneshot in the first place. 0_0
