Disclaimer; I don't own Harry Potter.
Severus knew immediately after entering Harry's house that this was all a mistake. He wanted to have a nice meal with his friends so he can introduce them to Hermione. A wonderful, brilliant woman he had been seeing for a few weeks now. She was someone truly amazing and he hoped that tonight would go well. As they took their seats for supper, Severus could see the looked on everyone's face at seeing him with an older woman be his side.
"So, Hermione who was the Prime Minster when you were born?" Ron asked.
"Ginny, this roast is delightful," Severus said trying to drown out Ron questions.
"Thanks, Severus," Ginny smiled.
"So does anyone remember when Charles and Diana got married?" Harry asked.
"So, Ginny how is Quidditch going?" Severus asked.
"Great maybe it to the playoffs." Ginny answered.
"Does anyone remember where there were when John Lennon was shot?" Ron asked.
"Excuse me, I have to go outside. I left something in my car," Hermione lefted and Severus could tell she was trying to keep herself from crying.
"Where did you dig up that old fossil?" Ron smiled, "I mean seriously?"
"Go fuck yourself!" Severus hissed, as he got out of his chair.
"Severus, she is a little older then you." Ginny said.
"Little? More like a couple decades," Harry smiled.
"You people are awful shitty friends," Severus snarled as glared at everyone at the table. "This is whats wrong with socially nobody bats an eye when a woman dates an older man, but go mental if a man dates a older woman. There nothing wrong with me dating Hermione, she's beautiful, she' a charming intellectual woman and I care deeply about her!" Severus stormed off to catch up with Hermione.
Severus catched up with Hermione as she was walking home in tears, "Hermione?"
"Severus please just leave me alone. There right I'm just a old fool believing we could be together." She was wiping tears off her face.
"Stop that, their opinion means nothing. All that matters is how we feel about each other," Severus took her hand. "Hermione, I think you are the most wonderful, brilliant, beautiful woman I ever met. I love you."
"You're just saying that."
"Hermione you know I am not one to just say things without meaning them," Severus twirled his fingers in her hair and kissed her cheek. "I love you."
"Severus," Hermione said softly as she gently touched his cheek and brought her lips to his.
