A/N: This is a poem I wrote rather a long time ago - before I actually figured out how to write. =) Be tolerant, please!

Beneath the Trees

Lydwina Marie

Galadriel

I long have stood beneath the trees,

the stars of Varda o'er my head.

Yet my heart dreams of azure seas

far removed from dark Morgoth's dread.

Morgoth reigns; I weep tears of grief

for my beloved Valinor.

In shadows he come as a thief

to steal the lights that high did soar.

Telperion, O Laurelin,

silver and golden you one shone,

Your glory robbed by Morgoth's sin:

the Elves have fled, the Dark Lord's won.

Now I wander beneath the trees,

my eyes upon the stars above.

Tears are falling on golden leaves,

blanketing the forest I love.

His hand ghosts gently o'er my cheek;

he lifts my head to meet his eyes:

I see his love, his eyes I seek,

for Celeborn knows why I cry.

Celeborn

She long has stood beneath the trees,

the stars of Varda o'er her head.

She dreams of far-off azure seas

far removed from dark Morgoth's dread.

I feel her grief, I see her tears,

my lovely, cold Galadriel:

Her agony to my heart sears,

for I love my fair Artanis.

Now she wanders 'neath the trees,

her eyes gaze on the stars above,

Her tears sparkle on golden leaves,

blanketing the forest we love.

Her face is cold and fair and white

beneath the sun and shadowed moon;

Alone she strays within the night,

but to the seas she will drift soon.

Beneath the trees of Lórien

together now we wander long.

The darkness grows in tree and fen,

but mingled yet will be our song.
