And I don't own One Piece.
Zoro groaned when something poked his ribs non-stop. He tried to make it stop by shuffling around in the bed and covering himself with a thick blanket, but it was no use. Now that something was poking his cheek. Oh, fuck it! He grumbled and opened his one working eye, only to come face to face with a smirking curly-brow.
"What do you want?" Zoro mumbled into his pillow.
"I wanted you to wake up obviously," Sanji snorted and lay down next to Zoro.
Sanji had been awake for an hour already, fussing around the house, trying to clean it even though he just did it yesterday. Soon he had decided that it was enough and headed to their small bedroom where Zoro had been sleeping soundly. The blonde had sat down on the bed and watched Zoro's peaceful sleeping form. However he'd got bored rather quickly and he needed Zoro's help anyway. So he ended up poking the poor man until he woke up.
"Tch, why of course you smartass…" Zoro huffed with a big yawn, stretching his arms.
Sanji rested his head on Zoro's board chest, enjoying the warmth radiating from him. Without a word, Zoro placed his hand on top of Sanji's head, running his fingers slowly through the blond and silky hair. Sanji purred at the nice feeling. He always liked it when Zoro stroked his hair like that. For a long good moment the two of them just lay there in comfortable silence. But of course nothing lasts forever.
"I need your help today," Sanji broke the silence as he traced his long and pale fingers on Zoro's chest, sending shivers down the green head's spine.
"Mh?" was the only answer.
"We need to get the Christmas tree today."
Zoro groaned. He was not in a mood for walking around in the woods, trying to find some damn tree and drag it home. Nope, he didn't like the idea at all. And besides, he would just be forced to listen to Sanji's bitching about how he wasn't capable to choose a good tree. And Sanji always wandered off somewhere and got lost, jeez… And no, Zoro never was the one who got lost, please. No matter what others said…
Sanji seemed to notice how much Zoro just didn't want to go. He sighed and slammed his hand on Zoro's chest, hard enough to make the other man let out a grunt.
"It's not going to take that long. And we promised to get it," Sanji said firmly. Sometimes Zoro's laziness annoyed him to no end…
"I don't get it. Why can't we just buy that freaking tree like normal people do?!" Zoro argued and pushed Sanji off of him so that he could sit up.
"Because we have Zeff's woods to use! We always used to get our tree from there when I was a kid. It's going to be fun, I promise."
"Ugh, fine!" Zoro couldn't talk back anymore when Sanji was giving that puppy dog expression with the sweetest smile ever.
A small smirk of victory curled on Sanji's lips. Ah, he knew exactly what to do to get what he wanted. He stood up after Zoro and walked to the other side of the bed. He wrapped his arms around Zoro's waist and gave him a little peck on his lips. Zoro was still pouting but, slowly, his expression softened when Sanji kept giving him attention. Stupid cook knew how to pull the right strings.
"Get yourself ready, breakfast is waiting for you in the kitchen," Sanji murmured softly against Zoro's neck and planted a little kiss on the sensitive skin.
"Mm, yeah, okay…" Zoro grunted and shivered at the touch.
Sanji let go of Zoro and walked to the kitchen to pour some coffee for them and sat down. He sipped the dark liquid with a pleased smile on his face. He had slipped some vanilla in the coffee, making it taste sweeter. He had eaten already so now he just needed to wait for Zoro to eat and then they could leave. Sanji had also prepared something warm for them to drink whilst walking in the woods.
Zoro didn't make Sanji wait for too long and soon walked to the kitchen fully clothed, rubbing his sleepy eyes. He sat down without a word and dug into his breakfast. Sanji observed him over the coffee cup and smiled softly. This was their second Christmas together and first Christmas in their own home. They lived in a cottage-like house away from the busy and crowded city. It was Zeff's old house and after he had passed away Sanji got all what he had had, the house, the woods, everything. When Sanji got to know about it he'd suggested to Zoro that they should move in together and use this house. And after some discussing Zoro agreed and now they lived happily, more or less, together.
"Ah, thanks for the food," Zoro snapped Sanji out of his thoughts. He hummed as an answer and collected all the dirty dishes."
Go get the axe ready, I will be there in a minute," Sanji yelled from the kitchen as Zoro went to put his winter clothes on.
Zoro walked out and the freezing air hit his face. He hissed at the feeling and adjusted his scarf to make his face stay warm. He cursed mentally and walked to the little cottage where they kept their fire wood and grabbed a red axe and some robe so that it would be easier to drag the tree back home.
Zoro was already waiting beside the front door when Sanji came out, holding a black bag in his hand.
"You better carry that by yourself, I'm not going to carry your shit," Zoro huffed and pointed at the bag.
"Tch, I wasn't going to ask you to do that, shitty Marimo," Sanji snapped. "Let's get going."
They slowly strolled across the yard to the woods. The sky was light grey and Sanji hoped that it wouldn't snow too much; it would just make things more difficult. Sanji made sure to walk next to Zoro so that the green head wouldn't get lost again. It was awful the last time he got lost in the woods…
"Okay, I think we've come far enough," Sanji said when they are deep in the forest.
Sanji looked around and walked between the snowy trees, trying to spot a perfect tree for them. Zoro decided to just stand in that same spot and let Sanji do the searching because he still didn't want to hear that endless bitching. But of course that wasn't good either…"
Oh come on Zoro, come here!" Sanji yells from the distance. Zoro groaned and walked up to Sanji.
"What?"
"Look at this tree? What do you think?" Sanji asked and pointed to one dark green fir.
Zoro eyed it carefully but shook his head. "It's too big. We can't fit it in our living room," Zoro explained and looked at Sanji's now pouting face. Oh what a kid…
"Hmph…" Sanji huffed and continued walking and searching, this time Zoro following him closely.
They passed many trees and analyzed them but none of them were good enough. Zoro was already getting frustrated and so was Sanji. The blonde suggested that maybe they should just take a little break and drink hot cocoa that he took with them, and Zoro agreed right away because he was freezing.
They didn't want to sit down and freeze their asses so they ended up just leaning on big leafless tree. Sanji poured steaming cocoa for both of them and sipped his own carefully. Ah, it was so good, with a little bit vanilla and cinnamon. Zoro hummed in satisfaction when the warm liquid flowed into his mouth and down his throat.
"Ah, this feels good," Sanji sighed happily and drank more.
Zoro stared up to the grayish sky and enjoyed the silence around them. Maybe he didn't want to admit it but he really enjoyed being here; alone with Sanji. And it was amazing to live away from the city with him. It was probably the best decision in his whole life.
They finished their drinks soon and Zoro picked up the axe and robe again.
"Okay, let's go to find that shitty tree," he said and started to walk to one random direction.
"Oi oi! Where the hell are you going?!" Sanji yelled after him and put the bag on his back again.
"To find that tree so that we can finally go back home," Zoro yelled back and kept walking.
Sanji didn't have any other choice than run after him so that the poor Marimo wouldn't get lost and freeze to death. He ran up to Zoro and took his hand, squeezing it gently. Zoro gave him an odd look and raised his eyebrow.
"My fingers are cold, that's all…" Sanji mumbled and looked away, hiding his slightly flushed face from the other man.
Zoro smirked at Sanji but didn't do anything to pull his hand away. Maybe his fingers were cold as well…
They kept walking around but still didn't find that one perfect tree. Sanji was ready to give and just agree with Zoro and buy the tree. But all of the sudden Zoro stopped walking and looked straight ahead. Sanji was confused that why did he stop and was going to ask about it before Zoro opened his mouth.
"What about that one?" Zoro asked and pointed to one tree with his axe.
Sanji looked to the pointed direction and saw the tree. And it was perfect, just the way he wanted it to be! He almost ran towards it and circled it, making sure that it was the one he wanted to decorate their living room with. And it really was. He was grinning from ear to ear; the tree was just like the ones he used to have in his childhood. Zoro walked after him and looked at the tree a bit closer. Yeah, it was pretty nice.
"Let's take this then," he said and prepared his axe.
"Oh yes, this is the one. It goes well with your hair," Sanji said smugly and laughed when Zoro's eyebrow twitched in annoyance.
Zoro decided to shut up and use his rage to cut down that stupid tree. He swung his axe and hit the tree with full power. He had to rip the axe away because damn that tree almost swallowed it! Zoro repeated the motion as Sanji watched from the side. The tree started to swing dangerously and finally fell over and hit the snowy ground with a quiet puff. Zoro took the robe and tied it around the top of the tree and straightened his back with a groan. Damn, now his back was sore… That shit-cook needed to give him a massage to thank him for this…
Sanji was really happy that they finally found the tree, he cheered like a little child and that amused Zoro to no end. And of course he had to point it out just to piss the cook off even though he earned a hit across his head as a reward, but it was totally worth it.
Slowly they made their way back home, Zoro dragging the tree behind them. Sanji was already rambling about the decoration and all that shit but Zoro tuned it out and just focused on walking, like he always did. And it only continued when they were at home. Sanji helped to get the tree inside and place it to the living room. It had to wait there for one day to melt before they could decorate it. And their friends were going to come to do it with them. It was going to be one big chaos but also fun.
Sanji sat down on the couch and looked at the tree with a pleased smile. They did great job today and he was happy that Zoro was able to cooperate that much. And he was actually the one who found that green thing. Sanji patted the couch beside him, gesturing Zoro to sit down as well and the Marimo complied happily. He sat down and leaned his back on the couch, letting out a heavy sigh. He cracked his sore neck and closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth in the room. He felt something pressing against his side and opened his eye slightly. Sanji had snuggled up to his side and wrapped his arms around him. It felt so nice for both of them.
"This is going to be a perfect Christmas," Sanji mumbled into Zoro's neck.
"Yeah, now when you have your shitty tree that I had to drag here," Zoro replied with a teasing smirk on his face; he just couldn't help it.
Sanji smacked his chest playfully and cursed under his breath something that Zoro couldn't hear. Zoro chuckled softly and leaned his head on Sanji's and closed his eyes again. Yeah, Sanji was probably right; it was going to be perfect.
