A/N: This is a The Miz/OC oneshot written for my best friend Mel. Miz goes to the WWE and the song goes to Theory of a Deadman. I hope you like it, Ying. :) Merry Christmas. :)
Wait For Me
You are not alone tonight.
Imagine me there by your side.
It's so hard to be here so far away from you.
I'm counting the days 'til I'm finally done.
I'm counting them down, yeah, one by one.
It feels like forever 'til I return to you.
But it helps me on those lonely nights.
It's that one thing that keeps me alive.
Mel Mizanin sat alone on the couch in her apartment, twirling her wedding ring on her finger. Her husband had been away for months, and she had been in a pretty sad mood the entire time. Mike was a WWE Superstar, better known by his ring name, "The Miz", and he was gone about 345 days of the year. It got hard for her, but she managed to hang in there knowing that when he came home, they made the most of their time together.
She turned and looked out one of the large bay windows to her left. Snow was falling in a thick blanket, and multicolored lights blinked from all of the other buildings outside. It was Christmas Eve, and if Mel was honest with herself, all that she wanted for Christmas was her husband.
Mel sighed and leaned her head back against the couch. Mike had told her that he would have Christmas off, but he wasn't home yet, and she was beginning to get worried. All that she could think about was that something might have happened to him. Worst case scenario, he could've gotten into an accident on his way home.
Knowing that you wait for me.
Ever so patiently.
No one else knows the feeling inside.
We hang up the phone without saying goodnight.
Because it's the sound of your voice that brings me home.
It's never been easy to say.
But it's easier when I've gone away.
At some point she must have fallen asleep, because the sound of a key in the lock of the front door woke her. She sat up quickly and stared at the front door, her heart pounding rapidly in her chest.
The door swung open, and the person that Mel had been waiting to see for hours stepped inside, shaking snow out of his hair and setting his suitcase on the floor. Then he looked up at her and smiled, his blue eyes warm. "Hey beautiful."
Mel's eyes immediately filled with tears, and she sprang off of the couch and threw her arms around his neck, her heart filling with love and happiness.
Knowing that you wait for me.
Ever so patiently.
Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having and,
It's everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me.
"Hey, why are you crying?" Mike murmured in concern, gently brushing the tears off of her cheeks. He knew that she had missed him because he had missed her too, but he hadn't expected her to cry.
"I'm just so happy that you're home," Mel whispered, smiling warmly up at him. "I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too," Mike replied honestly. "Not a day went by that I didn't think of you. Not a single one."
Mel smiled. He was so perfect, and he was all hers. The day that she had married him had been the happiest day of her life.
What I'd give.
What I'd do.
Knowing I'm not there for you,
Makes it so hard to leave.
What I'd give.
What I'd do.
Anything to get me home to you.
And this time I'll stay.
Mel stretched up on her tiptoes for a kiss, and Mike tilted his head down toward hers, knowing exactly what she wanted.
"I love you," she whispered before their lips met.
Everything in his kiss said that he loved her too.
And you wait for me.
Ever so patiently.
Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having and,
It's everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me.
