James Wilson had always thought of Gregory House as a hero. It was the way he possessed dogged nature and determination to get the answers, if not for the patient then for himself that impressed Wilson. Sure, House didn't sit at a patient's bedside and hold their hand while they suffered or even died. But that just wasn't the way House was; he didn't believe in coddling someone while they were sick or dying because he wouldn't want someone to treat him like that. Sometimes Wilson thought he was the only person who understood that, the only person who understood that while House wouldn't hold the patient's hand that he was always there.

Of course, Wilson would never admit to anyone that he thought House was a hero. He didn't want to risk being scoffed at or attempting to defend House once again from those who just didn't seem to get it. Plus, he thought that perhaps if he tried to defend him like that he would run the risk of sounding like Cameron and the last thing he needed was for anyone to think he had a crush on House.

He didn' have a crush on House. It was more than something that would go away when House decided to snark at him because he was in too much pain; it was love. Wilson was completely and irrevocably in love with House, and even better, House knew it.

"Why do you have that stupid look on your face?" House's voice broke into his thoughts caustically.

Wilson smiled, tilting his head back so he could look at House who was looming over the back of the couch staring down at him, blue eyes as sharp as ever. "I was just thinking about how you're so much better than Noah Wile as a doctor," He explained.

House rolled his eyes sighing softly, "You're trying to figure out if I have some ridiculous bleeding heart hero complex again, aren't you?" He asked, moving swiftly and gracefully around the couch, despite the cane and lowering himself onto the cushion next to Wilson.

Shaking his head Wilson shrugged his shoulders, "You're a hero to me and that's all that matters," He reached out playfully, fully intending on pinching House's cheek only to have his wrist caught in an ironclad grip.

"Don't call me a hero," House told him firmly. "I'm just a doctor."

Wilson smiled, moving against the other man's side before he could say anything. "An anti-hero then," He teased, pressing his lips firmly against House's.

House let out a soft sigh against his mouth and reached up, his fingers wrapping in Wilson's hair and pulling slightly as he returned the kiss punishingly.

Although House would never admit it, to anyone else or himself, he was a hero. But, he knew that he was one to Wilson; even if he was an anti-hero.
