It had become hard; twenty-three years, and now they were apart. The two of them had been through, together, more than most could count. However, times had changed and the two of them had 'gone their separate ways', so to speak.
If he had a say, his brother would never have left; just like he'd chosen to do, aniki would have stayed and lived his life behind the wheel, adrenaline rushing and crowds cheering him on.
Instead, his older brother had walked away from it. One day, the decision had become finalized in his head that he would rather go into the medical field than one of motors.
It was a disappointment, but there was nothing he could do or say to change his brother's mind. It was just something he'd learned to go with, similarly to the way he adapted to his brother's absence now that he'd moved away.
Leaning back on the FD, he looked out over the guardrail; Akagi was the same as it ever was, whether Ryousuke were here or not.
Time idled by, a vibrating from his pocket being the movement to stir him from his thoughts. The screen glowed blue, inviting him to read the newly received message.
Don't lose too much sleep out there. 'Night, kid.
The words made him smile; even when he wasn't here, Ry still knew him better than anyone else.
Even if he never beat the eight-six, it was one advantage he knew he had over Fujiwara. Ryousuke had admired both their talents enough to further them, and despite every seemingly biased decision he'd made, Keisuke knew that aniki would always favor him.
