Story: Living Legends

Chapter: Introduction

Author: The Fifth Maurder

A/N: Okay well this is the first of my hopefully many pokemon fanfics. Like it said in the summary the 22 best trainers come together to see who is the best, and to win a fabulous and mysterious prize. This first chapter isn't as long as I'd like but the next will be longer I promise. Okay well I'll stop this author's note now so you can get to the good part, the story. :-)

K the C

The sun rose over Indigo Plateau casting a beautiful orange glow over the already gorgeous landscape. A feeble looking old man walked up the path to the Pokemon League HQ accompanied by a young man probably in his early twenties. The acted very calm, despite the fact that they were carrying a priceless package.

"Tell me one more time Bill. How was it you came upon this find?" Asked the old man.

"Well sir, I was doing routine maintenance to the Goldenrod City time capsule in the Goldenrod City Pokemon Center when all of a sudden the capsule went into time travel mode all by itself. I was shocked; someone must have messed with the time capsule before I got there. Naturally I ran out the exit so that I wouldn't get sent back, or forward in time. That would have been a nasty mess. I jumped through the exit just as the capsule door slammed closed behind me. The capsule suddenly started to shake violently, now I knew someone had messed with it. The capsules weigh like two tons, so it would take a lot of power to move it like that. The capsule, just as suddenly as it started, stopped without warning. I opened the capsule door to find... well these." Bill reached into his pocket and pulled out a golden pokeball and a piece of paper.

The old man took the paper from Bill and stared at it. "The top message," Bill said. "It's written in Unown. I translated it below."

The old man cleared his throat and began to read it aloud.

"Only the best trainer of them all

Can open this sacred pokeball."

The old man stopped reading. He turned to Bill. "Very peculiar, and then you decided to give the pokeball to the winner of this tournament, right?"

"Yes sir." Said Bill. "I can't open it, no matter what I do, so now I'm really curious about what's inside."

They walked on in silence until they reached the door to the Pokemon League HQ.

The old man turned again to Bill, "Well let the games begin."
