I do not own Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It belongs to Nintendo.
Anniversary

He sits on a rock, staring off into the sky. His eyes are forlorn. It is an anniversary.
She looks at him from afar, taking in his expression. She is intrigued.
"Today is the day you saved us all," she says, walking up behind him. "You know, that, right?"
"Yes," he whispers. "One year ago, I was granted a great victory, but I suffered a great loss." He looks down at the ground. He clenches his fists.
She is confused. "Were you injured? Did someone die? I do not understand."
He is hesitant. "I was injured, but I have since recovered. But I was hurt in a way that cannot be righted easily. No one died, but someone did leave this realm forever." The words are painful, cutting. It is if he has reopened a fresh wound.
She sits beside him. She looks at the departing sun's light that reflects beautifully off of the water in the stream. "You are not alone, you know. You have the village. You have Epona. You have me." She turns to look at him. He appears so sad, so lost in thought. "You must always remember that."
"Thank you," he murmurs.
