This is a quick one-shot of Bob and Phil finally getting together. It is a slash (meaning that it contains a male/male romantic relationship. Those who do not like such things should find another story to read, and those who read this one should not complain since they have been warned.)

Remember, this takes place in a time when homosexuality was not as well accepted as it is today.

I do accept and appreciate constructive criticism. Rudeness and flames are ignored.

Merry Christmas!

That night, after the performance, Bob slipped away and out into the snow, hoping that the icy night air might do something to clear his thoughts. Was it right for him to be deceiving the others like this? True, he had known Phil longer than any of the others, and thus had fooled him the longest. Truth be told, as wrong as it might have been, Bob was scared.

"What are you thinking about?" Bob turned at the voice to see Betty smiling at him. Bob smiled shyly as Betty glided towards him and took his hands in her own. "You should be inside. You'll catch cold if you're out here too long."

"Betty, there's something I've been meaning to tell you." Bob stated nervously, holding still. Betty looked at him quizzically, and he cleared his throat, preparing for the worst. "I'm afraid I haven't been completely honest with you."

"Oh? In what way?" Betty inquired, looking at Bob suspiciously. Bob wanted to drop her hands and run in that very moment, but instead he cleared his throat again, and continued to smile in the same sheepish manner.

"Well, you see…" He laughed awkwardly, "You see, I'm not really…I'm in love…"

"Yes?" Betty prompted, loosing her grip on Bob's shaking hands, and preparing to slap him if he finished with 'your sister.'

"In love with Phil." Bob finished hurriedly, finally meeting her eyes. Betty looked thunderstruck, and Bob couldn't blame her. If Betty had said that she was a flying mongoose and been able to prove it, he wouldn't have been more surprised than she looked at that moment.

Somewhere between five seconds and eternity, Betty found the strength to pull her hands free of Bob's. Her head was filled with questions. For how long had he felt this way? How could she have not seen it? And why wasn't she disgusted as most normal people would have been?

Instead, she choked out, "Does he know?"

"No. I wanted to tell him tonight, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen." Bob confessed.

"Leave everything to me." Betty heard herself say, and for some reason, she was glad to be helping him.

Phil found himself being shoved rather curtly by a very persistent Betty. All of his attempts to question what was going on went ignored, and only when the door was closed behind him did Phil notice he wasn't alone.

"Bob? Did you see what that girl did to me? I'm gonna have bruises!" Phil demanded. When Bob didn't respond, Phil knew something strange had to be going on. "What's going on here?"

Bob proceeded to tell Phil how he felt about him, and how it had started when Phil saved his life. He explained how he had avoid girls simply to spend time with Phil instead, and how hurt he was, knowing how Phil was such a skirt chaser. He poured his heart out to Phil, and when he was done, he expected Phil to snarl some nasty remark, show some disbelief, or leave the inn, never to be heard form again.

Instead, he heard four very unexpected words. "Well, that's a relief."

"What?" Bob demanded doubtfully.

"I said, 'that's a relief'." Phil repeated, wrapping an arm around Bob's shoulder. "Do you have any idea how long I've wanted to say the very same thing to you?"

Bob's face light up with realization and for the first time that night, he gave a real smile.

"Just one thing." Phil stated as they were about to rejoin the party. Without giving Bob a chance to protest, Phil kissed him.

Not that Bob wanted to protest. Phil was a very good kisser.
