The Cursed Violinist
(A Rin Okumura Drabble)
I watched as Ayaka started playing her violin. Her pose was perfect; her back was straight, arms up and out holding the violin properly, her chin lightly rested against it. Her eyes were closed as she became one with her music. Her playing actually made me feel a lot better. It soothed me, made me serene, but my calm nature ended abruptly. Ayaka's violin started giving off a red glow. I watched as the red glow took over her whole body and the low level demons known as coal tar swarmed her. I quickly stood up as the bad feeling engulfed my body. Ayaka was slowly transforming. Fangs grew out of her mouth, her eyes changed from brown to red, two horns grew out her of head and a tail extended from behind her; her hands evolved into claws. A low and angry growl escaped from her lips as her eyes sent glares towards me. How did this happen? I've known Ayaka for a long time. She was always so bright and cheerful. I remember when she first came to the monastery. Her parents were in a fatal accident on their way to pick her up from a violin lesson. That night, it was very dark and rainy. The roads were very slippery. Her parent's car curved off the side of the road and off a cliff. The car exploded when it impacted the ground and her parents died instantly, but even though her parents have just died, she didn't let it bother her, at least on the outside. I bet deep inside her heart, she grieved. The darkness in her heart grew, when she kept blaming herself for her parent's demise. In that way, she's just like me. I unsheathed my sword and pointed the tip at her. I could feel my demonic power intensify as I tightly grasp my blade. My body was engulfed by blue fire and a powerful urge overwhelmed me. Even though I wasn't an exorcist yet, I had to still free Ayaka from this demon's hold. I watched as the demon that possessed her revealed its true form. It still held Aya's body in front it, as if she was a shield.
"You're him aren't you? The son of the Lord of all demons. That blue fire that surrounds you proves that you are."
I felt anger ambush my entire body. I started to angrily charge at the demon.
"I'm not like you and Satan is no father of mine!" I yelled at it.
I took a high jump in the air and slashed the demon from the top of its head. He threw Ayaka out of his arms when blood ejected out of his head. I quickly caught Aya in my arms before she landed on the floor. I observed as the demon dissolved, but then focused my attention on Ayaka. She was unconscious; her eyes closed and her lips slightly parted from one another. Even though she was just possessed by a demon, her face still looked peaceful as she slept. I felt another urge as I stared at her calming face. I gulped as I closed my eyes and leaned in closer to her lips. My lips lightly met hers, but I quickly parted from them. I rested her body on her bed. I brushed away the strands of her hair from her face and walked over to her window. I took one last glance at her before jumping out.
