Pairing: Marcus/Leah

Author's Note: Marcus and Leah are a pairing that I have recently been brought into by a fellow fanfic writer. At first, I didn't think they could possibly even BE a couple. After thinking about it though, many ideas began to pop up inside my head for a story and well, now my every writing thought is about them. Thank you for that, inuyashafanwhitehair!

-escape-

Leah never thought she would end up like the others. To be connected to a complete stranger with the loyal adoration of a naïve puppy never suited her fiery, and blatantly independent, image and yet, here she was. Utterly taken by the sight of someone (or something, as she fervently told herself), who was the worst possibility that she could have ever imagined.

In fact, the moment she felt the inevitable rush of her determined soul filled the hollow space inside him, she had returned to her normal state without even caring over the fact that she was now vulnerable to an swift attack and bare to anyone who was interested in looking.

Naked and distraught, her only thought was to run far from the snow-layered clearing, putting distance between her and the one who now had her entire being in the tainted palms of his stone-cold hands. Away from his beautiful crimson eyes, which were displaying his inner suffering and resignation from a nameless tragedy that she both did and didn't want to learn about.

Her dear brother, always so concerned over her well-being, whined as she raced past him. She would tell him some half-truth later, that is, if they survived the deadly assault from this ancient coven of red-eyed demons. If they did not, well, she would simply be taking all her secrets with her to the blood-stained grave.

Horror and disgust soon dominated over all of her boiling emotions due to a large part of her aching to turn back and run straight into his arms, but she wouldn't allow herself to submit to such a cruel and broken fate. Instead, she would deny and escape fate's relentless clutches with the fierce spirit of an untamable she-wolf. Nothing, not even the silent grief of her destined mate or the pulsing burn inside her own chained heart, would make her accept the next terrible chapter of her abnormal life.

No, she just needed to keep running. To stay away. To escape before it was too late for her.

Finally back in the thick tree-line, within the comfort of familiar shadows, she lay in wait for the brutal sounds of war. Only then would she reappear back into the spacious glade, so she may fight alongside her pack (and family, though she hated to called them as such) against the immortal force that threatened them and their peaceful way of living. She would end them all before they even laid a disgusting finger on her younger brother.

One by one…they would fall.

Not him, a quiet voice countered in the deepest part of her mind, causing her to clench her teeth together in sudden fury and despair. Yes, it was true. She couldn't think of ending him (or anyone else ending him) anymore.

At least, not without being racked with a paralyzing pain that coursed through every inch of her body.
