A/N: Just a novalization of one of the early cut-scenes in Twilight Princess.

Enter the Twilight

My heart is racing, I can scarcely breathe, and I feel like my head has been cleaved in two, but I don't stop running. I can't. Not after what I saw those beasts do. The bridge is ahead, it's the only way they could have gone. I put on an extra burst of speed, whether my body could take it or not.

Almost there. I can see the entrance to the woods, but something is amiss, I can feel it. The bridge is behind me now, only a few more paces and I am in the forest. Before I enter, I look up. My breath catches in my throat and my feet stop moving. I take a step back and look at what is in front of me, an enormous black wall with an eerie orange aura.

As I stare at the wall looming ahead, a giant, black hand shoots through it. Before I can do anything, it has me in its grasp and is yanking me towards the wall. My eyes close instinctively and a cry of surprise passes my through my lips.

I brace for the impact upon the wall...but it never comes. I realize that whatever grabbed me has a tight grip on my neck. My hands fly to the offending hand and my eyes pop open. I regret doing so.

Holding me above the ground couldn't be described other than a beast from hell. I try to loosen its grip from my neck but it won't budge. There is a flash of blinding light and the beast flings me across the forest floor and scurries away.

As I start to rise from my fall, I notice the forest has changed. It's as if a sinister dusk had descended on the peaceful wood. Suddenly, my head throbs painfully and I fall to my knees. The throbbing refuses to cease and soon my whole body is aching terribly.

The pain is too much. A scream threatens to escape my throat, but I manage to stifle it. The pain keeps growing and makes me stagger. And then...it's gone.

I relax and sigh out of relief. As I start to straighten up, my entire body explodes and I scream out of pain and surprise. A raging fire begins at my toes and travels fast toward my head. My scream morphs into a beast's growl as the fire reaches my neck.

My body can't take any more. The fire stops and the pain dies down, but the damage is done. My eyes roll back into my head and what little strength I have left leaves me. I fall to the ground, my breathing already beginning to slow. Before I completely pass out, that beast that pulled me in here to begin with grasps my ankle and pulls.

Gods help those children, was the last thought on my mind as I fell into darkness.
