It was quiet.
And Kairi was bored.
That right there was the first problem.
The second problem was... Well... Aside from Ginji, everyone currently in the cockpit knew about Tales of the Aybss. And Doppel had been rather fixated on Tales of the Abyss here recently.
So of course, Kairi was fixated on the game... Or, more correctly, its map.
"The world is a doughnut shape," she announced.
Silence continued to reign for a while.
"No, I'm quite certain it's a sphere," Jade countered warily. "Though, what brought this on?"
Kairi shrugged. "Doppel's been fixated on Tales of the Abyss, and I've been looking at maps lately. So I've been thinking about the game map. Wherein the world is a doughnut."
"Uh..." Ginji started.
"Ginji, do yourself a favor, don't you dare try to keep up with us," Sync warned. He then turned to look at Kairi. "The world is a sphere. Big ball of rock and water floating in space."
Kairi's lips started to twitch up into a grin. "No, it's a ring of rock and water floating in space. That I can fly the Albiore north from the Absorption Gate and arrive at the Radiation Gate is proof of that."
"Um..." Ginji's tone of voice told everyone just how confused he was, but aside from another warning not to ask, this time from Asch, he was mostly ignored.
Jade, on the other hand, groaned and let his head fall into his hand. "The world is a sphere. Regardless of whatever obviously faulty programming was involved in making that possible, the world is a sphere."
Asch snorted. "That said, I want to know how the hell that was possible in the game. Honest logic says you go north long enough and you'll find yourself going south. Not to the south and going north still."
Kairi grinned. "Picture a grid in your head. The vertical lines are labeled A to... I think I is the tenth letter? The horizontal lines are labeled one through ten. In order for flying west to point 3 to line up with point 3 on the other side of the map, they had to program A to send you to southern A instead of northern E. Resulting in a world that is doughnut-shaped."
Silence once again ruled, and for once, it seemed Ginji wasn't going to try to ask what nonsense she was going on about. Probably for the better, given that Jade was massaging his temples and looking totally confused.
Which had Kairi's grin fading into a frown. "Do I need to draw you a diagram?" she asked. Jade blinked, realized she was talking to him, and then shook his head.
"No, no... I'm just trying to figure out how gravity is supposed to work in that case."
Sync and Asch groaned, Kairi snickered, and Ginji sighed.
"I'm just going to add this to my list of memories to forget about and never bring up again," he decided.
From Kairi's cackling, that was probably wise of him.
Random little thing that popped in my head as I was trying to fall asleep. This doesn't have any place in Re:Ripples canon, so it got its own little thing instead of going into Colored Ripples. Hope it was as amusing for you reading it as it was for me imagining and then writing it.
I only own my OC, Kairi.
