Miracles Happen
If Thade was never trapped in Calima after the war.
Chapter One
It was deep in Thade's bones, he had been aching to fight the humans for so long. To put them back in the dust where they belonged. He slipped on his armor, shining golden light, since it was very important to him. It protected his muscles and limbs from being ruined. His physical strength was essential to winning, but he knew he would need a lot of mental and emotional strength today as well. She may die today...
Last night he hurt her, hurt her so badly it made him sick. He wanted to make her laugh, not cry. His mind had been so clouded over with hatred and jealousy that he couldn't see the actual female standing in front of him. Beautiful, sensitive, soft, gentle Ari. The female that made his heart pound and his breath come out in a quick pace. Sometimes he asked himself why he hated humans so much and why he was acting the way he was. He knew that she wouldn't be with him as long as he was General, or at least until he made some major changes. Thade was terrified to make changes. Was Ari really worth his entire way of thinking and the base of all his believes? And Thade knew the answer to that question. It was an obvious yes.
When Ari left the tent, Thade wanted to call after her, to apoligize. To make everything right again, but he didn't, he only made things worse.
Ari felt something was wrong, of course other than the fact that they would be fighting today, and many would die. She felt a strange connection with many spirits in the air. They seemed to be like vultures...waiting for dying souls to eat. The wound on her hand began to sting and she looked down at it. What would he do if she was killed? Would he care at all? Last night he seemed so cold hearted. Would he be the one to set his blade into her? Last night she had come close to setting him in the right direction, and in one instant she saw his mind flicker back and forth, she also saw in his eyes a glint of tender affection and admiration. She was hoping right at that moment he would take her in his arms and never stop kissing her. Her heart pained as well as her hand, with memories of him.
What had happened to the soldier who Ari had known so well? The gentle, understanding, happy commander who she had pledged herself to entirely. She had once worn a ring around her finger that announced the relationship they had. Ari wondered if it had hurt him the day she flung so hard against his chest. She had watched it fly through the air, the expense jewels glittering in the sun.
I want to wear that ring again, Ari thought...
A man sat near Calima, waiting. His instincts told him trouble was near. What if he needed to use his gift? This man had a gift that gave a miracle...The miracle of life back into a dead body. He hardly ever used it. He didn't like his gift. It caused to much pain and too many people expected too much from him. He couldn't keep everyone living, but if he needed to use it today, then he would do it for the poor soul who's life would be taken away. He just needed a really good reason to use his healing power. He needed to see that this person needed to have a life. All he knew was that he would never, ever use it on an ape...
