Disclaimer: Before we start, here's a short quiz for y'all

1) Is my writing at all in any way, shape, or form like JKRs?

Yes

No

If you said b, you have serious issues.

Please tell me if this sounds like your story or a story you know; I DO NOT want to be accused of plagiarism.

MY DISCLAIMER: Just so you know, I will spend forever on this story. I would highly recommend waiting until it is complete because I don't have a laptop yet and my brother hogs the computer all the time. Also, I'm a HUGE procrastinator, so, sorry for the extremely long wait. Also, my chapters are probably going to be semi short (I know this one is.) Bare with me.

A/N: Okay, this is my first Fanfic. I really hope you like this, because I love LJ romances! Constructive criticism is appreciated; don't go easy on me just because it's my first story. Flames, however, are not welcomed. And now, without further ado, Ladies and Gentlemen: Just the Way You Look Tonight.

Prologue: Of Flowers and Fire

" Loser!"

"Freak!"

"Witch!"

Lily Evens glanced behind her, tears streaming down her face. "I am not a witch, but if I was, I would hex all of you," she cried.

Petunia Evens jumped up to defend her younger sister. " Lily is not a freak, you guys are! Now go away!"

The children left the park in groups, all throwing dirty glances at Lily and her sister.

"Jeez, Lily, why are they always on you like that! Why don't they leave you alone?" Petunia questioned, sitting back down on her swing.

Lily glanced around, making sure no one else was at the park. "Promise you won't tell, Pet," she whispered softly "pinky promise?"

Petunia smiled at her seven-year-old sister. "Of course, Lily! That's the best way to make a promise!" The girls often stayed up late at night, making pinky promises under their covers.

"Oka-ay" Lily sang, hopping down from her swing onto a pile of daisies, her tears forgotten. She beckoned Petunia over, and formed her hands into a closed cup shape, with a little space between her thumbs. Lily then grinned at Petunia. "Are ya' cold, Pet?" At Petunia's affirming nod, Lily blew into her hands, and then opened them up fully. A bright blue flame danced merrily in her palm.

Petunia stumbled backwards. "Lily, put that out, you could get hurt!"

Lily just giggled. "It doesn't hurt, Pet. It tickles."

"I don't care, just put it out."

Lily blew on her fire, causing it to go out.

Petunia grumbled. "Is this why they call you names?"

Lily nodded sadly. "I showed Mary and Kalie, they said I was a witch."

Petunia helped her sister up. "Well. I don't think you're a witch. Witches are ugly, they have warts and make evil potions and you" here she tapped Lily on the nose, "don't do any of that."

Lily sniffled. "So what am I? I mean, you can't do any of that stuff."

Petunia sighed; after all, she was only two years older than Lily. "I don't know, Lily. But I can tell you one thing. I'll always be here for you."

Lily looked up at her sister. "Pinky promise?"

"Pinky promise."

The two girls left the park that day, pinky in pinky.
