"Hold still!" Zelda snapped, trying to put red potion on his cuts.
"Well, sorry!" Link snarled, partly because red potion stung and partly because he never liked people using that tone with him.
Zelda blushed, realizing that she had snapped at him. "Sorry. Sometimes being the boss goes to my head, ya know?"
"It's all right." Link said softly. Then he asked, "Why exactly are you putting this stuff on me? Why can't I just drink it?"
"Because drinking it makes it heal slower. You'll need to be in one piece to get the next stone, I think. I had the strangest dream about you having to deal with fish innards and a snotty trout."
Link gave Zelda a long look.
"Your prophecies are beginning to scare me."
Zelda giggled, and then took off her crown to reveal chin length hair that had a bleach-blond color. "It's hot out. You're lucky you get to go to the lake."
Link snorted. "I doubt it'll be a leisurely swim, Zel. I'll be lucky to get out in one piece, most likely."
"Well, be careful." Zelda murmured.
Impa grinned as she walked by the pair. "Cute couple." She said in a not-so-quiet whisper.
"US! COUPLE?!" They said in unison.
"Yeah right!" Zelda cried.
"Never!" Link said fiercely.
"Of course, princess. Sorry I suggested it." Impa said. She turned around and walked off, laughing.
"Good help is so hard to find these days." Zelda said with a mock sigh.
"I've gotta go. I've got some fish to fry!" Link laughed, and Zelda just shook her head.
"Come back as soon as you get the stone!"
"I promise I will! Just stay where you are!"
"I promise. Beside, where else would I go?" Zelda shrugged as she asked this.
Link ran off, grinning with carefree laughter.
Link would keep his promise.
It's just too bad Zelda couldn't keep hers.
