Author's note - This is basically the snickers moment that should've happened in girls gone wild (14x11). Enjoy!
Nick and Russell walked over to the ambulances where the uniforms were. They made out the shape of Jim Brass in the crowd and began to walk over to him. Nick spotted Sara sitting in one of the ambulances, a cloth on her head. Ditching Russell, Nick ran over to her. She stood up, wobbling slightly, when she saw him. He ran straight to her and pulled her into a hug. He had never been so worried than when he had found out she had been shot. After breaking apart she sat in the vehicle again as Nick spoke to her.
"Oh my God Sar! You had me so worried! I thought you were dead!"
"Yeah well I just about dodged the bullet!" she laughed.
"Literally as well! I mean it Sar, I thought I'd never see you again!"
"Well you're still stuck with me."
"I could never be stuck with you! Whoever said that is not right! How are you?" he asked.
"I've been better, got a pounding headache!"
"How about when you're done with Brass you come back to mine, it'll save you making dinner!" he reasoned.
"Sure, as long as I'm not a problem?"
"Sara, you are never a problem! I've told you before that you're welcome at mine anytime!"
"Thanks Nicky."
"Hey it's fine, it's the least I can do for a hero!" he knew she hated being called that.
"Shut up Nick!" He laughed as he walked away.
The talk with Brass wasn't too long and as soon as she stepped outside she saw Nick waiting for her.
"Hey cowboy!" she said as she walked over to where he was standing.
"Hey darlin', how ya doing?" he drawled.
"Not so bad, the head's better I guess." she pointed to the place where the cloth had been. There was now a patch of neat butterfly stitches.
"Looks it. Come on, lets go home."
"Nick you don't have to do this you know."
"I want to! Please Sara!"
"Thank you Nicky." They walked to his car.
After stopping off at the store for some extra ingredients they arrived at Nick's apartment. Sara helped him put the bags down and opened two beers for them.
"Hey, you want me to help?"
"It's fine, unless you want to?"
"Oh I just said that to be polite, I can't actually cook!"
"Well let me show you then."
"No, Nicky it's fine!"
"I'm being serious Sar! Come over here!"
Reluctantly Sara got off the sofa where she had been sitting and went over to the kitchen. Nick stood her in front of a chopping board and onion."Cut." said Nick. Sara started to roughly chop the onion but the knife kept sliding off the vegetable. "Here, let me help." he said as he put his arms round her waist and began to chop the onion, his hand on hers. She could feel his warm breath on her neck and it was making her dizzy. His touch was electric, surging through her. He brought his mouth closer to his neck and kissed her. It sent shockwaves through her body. She turned to face him. Her lips were slightly apart and, taking the chance, he kissed her again. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed back with as much passion as she could muster. Soon his hands were on her back and reaching round onto her front. Realizing what she was doing, she pulled away. "Nick" she whispered, her voice low, "What are we doing?"
"I don't know what you're doing but I was kissing you." he laughed.
"Nicky, you know what I mean."
"I love you Sara, I have to stop pretending."
"Then I guess it's a good thing that I love you too." she smiled before closing the gap between them for a second time.
"You know, we really need to get back to cooking but after maybe we could have dessert..."
"Sounds great cowboy!"
