Mitchie sighed. Shane was late. Not just late. He was almost an hour late. This was insane. Did he expect her to just wait at the restaurant for him forever?

"Ugh, I cannot believe this." Mitchie pulled out her cellphone and dialed Shane's number for the tenth time.

"Shane? It's Mitchie. Did you forget, or are we still having dinner?" Mitchie almost screamed at Shane when he finally picked up his phone, but spoke through tightly clenched teeth. The line went dead, and Mitchie seethed.

"Oh, I cannot believe this! He hung up on me! I'm his girlfriend, for heaven's sake!" Her eyes widened as she glimpsed Shane coming through the tables, weaving his way between waiters trying to serve impatient customers. "Oh great. Now he's here."

"Mitchie! How was your day, honey? And, yes, I do know that I'm late. Sorry. They wouldn't let me go at the office. Really, I tried. Boss called me into a meeting and it went way over. I couldn't answer my phone. I'm really sorry, baby, really-"

"Shane. You sound ridiculous. Can we just order?" Mitchie smiled as she said it, but truth be told, she was still a little mad at Shane.

"Nope." Shane grinned as he said it, and picked up the menu, looking it over with an impish grin dancing on his face.

"May I ask why we cannot order?" Mitchie's face began to harden a bit, and she rolled her eyes after he shrugged at her.

Suddenly, she jumped as Shane pushed back his chair and stood up on it.

"Shane! What in the world do you think you are doing? You're making a fool out of yourself! Get done off of there! You're embarassing me!"

Shane smirked at her and blew her a cheeky kiss before calling out loudly, "Ladies and gentlemen! May I please have a moment of your time? My girlfriend, Mitchie, has had to wait almost an hour for me to come to dinner. I was detained at work. I explained and apologized, and she accepted my apology like the wonderful person she is. I think she's still a little ticked though."

Shane's last sentence came out in a stage whisper with a wink to the laughing patrons in the room. He smiled.

Mitchie glared at him, her face red. "So, without further ado..." Shane trailed off as he stepped from the chair to the table and knelt down. "Mitchie, will you please please please forgive me? I know I made you mad, and I'm terribly sorry. I also...well, I lied to you. I didn't get detained at work. I got caught in traffic, because I had to go get this."

Shane pulled a sparkling diamond ring, and held it out to Mitchie, who sat speechless in her chair. "Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife? Even though I was late?"

Mitchie smiled and pretended to think about it for a moment. Shane's eyes widened. She winked. "Yes. But only if you get off the table."

Shane smiled and hopped down. "Sure, love. Whatever you want."

A/N: Yeah, so I wrote this in ten minutes. Literally. It was a race with one of my friends, and I won! :D Anyway, I'd LOVE to hear from anyone who read this. Please review!

Also, I'm considering starting a multi-chapter story. I have the first chapter done, so let me know if that's something you think you'd read.
