The Smile.
The old and withered man watched his granddaughter with sad eyes. She worked silently, taking orders with a soft smile but never did that smile reach her eyes. He wondered what she would do when he was gone, take over the shop and live forever alone. No, He didn't want that, she deserved better.
And the Better Came with only a small stumble...
Bella Swan sighed as she smelled the familiar aroma of coffee, sugar, and apple cinnamon. She had worked in her grandfather's Coffee Shop for awhile now, it had become her comfort home away from home. She smiled thinking of her grandfather but never did that smile reach her eyes. It was around noon when he came in, her favorite customer. He was sweet, smart, outgoing, and the most perfect person in the world. Well, that's what she hoped, Bella had never actually talked to the guy. The guy, being Edward Cullen, was way out of her league.
Forgetting that Alice had stayed home sick with the flu, Bella Swan didn't realize he was waiting on her to order. Bella Swan thought about her spunky friend Alice Brandon and wondered if she was really sick or just playing hooky with her beloved Jasper. She smiled at the thought but never did that smile reach her eyes.
"Bella, dear, are you going to make the young man wait forever?" Her grandfather asked. Jerking up, she noticed she had kept Mr. Perfect waiting, and after noticing he was in fact Mr. Perfect, she promptly choked on her coffee. After more than a few embarrassing moments, he finally ordered the check.
"Would you like to take a walk with me?"Edward asked, dare Bella say shyly.
"Sure, Grandpa I'm taking a break." She called. He grandfather looked up and felt his worries wash away. Bella Swan had smiled and that smile had reached her eyes.
My first completed story. I figured after the mess my last one was I should start slow. Hope you liked my fluffy one-shot.
