Light Up The Sky

Chapter One - Paintball

.

Maya sneaked carefully along the big, white wall. Her hands were firmly on the paint gun, making sure that she was ready at all times to shoot the living hell out of Cam when needed.

Counting down from three to zero, Maya came out of her hiding and pointed her gun at the air, playing it safe.

No sight of Cam.

Maya let her gun down and scratched her head with her free hand.

He had to be around here somewhere, because Maya possessed a sixth sense when it came to tracing Campbell Saunders.

"Missed me, huh?"

She startled a bit up at the sudden sight of Cam, who was standing right in front of her with his smug grin and the gun pointed at Maya.

Maya smirked annoyed at the glorious spark in his brown eyes. She'd always call them dirty mud brown.

She gestured with her arms in front of her chest, frowning. "Where did you come from, Saunders?"

Cam shrugged his shoulders, with the same grin. "You gotta be more careful, M…"

Dramatic sigh. "Alright, alright. You got me!"

Cam nodded contentedly, yet with some fake smugness.

"You surrender?"

"I surrender." Maya answered.

Cam nodded once more, but this time in a modest way. He let his gun sink a bit - After all, he didn't have the heart to shoot his best friend, when she was taken by surprise like that - even if it's just paintball.

In that moment, a mischievous smirk crept on her lips and now she was the one pointing the gun on him.

"You're way too gullible, dear friend." Maya spoke dramatically, shooting the boy in front of her.

Cam couldn't move. He stared at the green spot on his chest, where he was shot by Maya with a paint ball. His mouth was a crack wide open, while his arms were still spread.

Cam slowly lifted his head looking up at Maya. "More like too gracious - You're a monster, Matlin!" He chuckled with insincere annoyance.

"Say what you want," Maya smiled. "I'm your favorite monster, and you know that!"

"You've got some nerve," Cam laughed. "You're the worst!"

Maya chuckled. "Love you, too."

Cam raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, and Maya?"

"Yeah?"

He pointed his gun at her, making sure to target right on her heart. He shot, and now there was a red spot on her left chest. "Now we're even." He smiled.

Maya looked down at herself than she looked at Cam and began to laugh hysterically.

Cam started to laugh even harder, not knowing why there were laughing. For whatever reason, he couldn't control himself.

Maya pointed at him, drugged with laughter. "L-L-Look at you!" She exclaimed between laughs.

Cam looked down at himself at had to laugh even harder.

"You look like a batty clown." Maya managed to say. It wasn't that funny, but Maya just couldn't stop. Tears began to spill from her eyes.

"Then you're a bird of paradise." Cam told her, wiping the tears from his eyes.

And so they stood their, pointing at each other, while laughing their heads off - For whatever reason.

-My love for you was bullet proof, but you're the one who shot me.
