I don't own Phineas & Ferb. Jeff, Dan & Disney are the rightful owners.

Candace and Ferb have an interesting relationship to say the least. They're not friends, they're not siblings; they're step-siblings.

18-year-old Candace came home and slammed the door then screamed. She looked for her mother in the kitchen. "Mom, my life is over. I just had the worst day ever." She whined, then noticed that the kitchen was empty. With a sigh, she went upstairs.

Candace got to the top of the staircase and glared at the door to her brothers' room. What's the point. She thought to herself, then continued down the hall to her room and slammed the door.

She looked out the window into the back yard. No one was there. All was quiet. Candace then kicked the drawer to the window seat. "Ouch! Ow ow ow ow." She grabbed her sore foot and started hopping around.

Ferb opened the door to his shared room and peered down the hall, then went to knock on Candace's door.

Candace heard the light knock on the door. "Not now Phineas!" She hollered then flung herself onto her bed.

Ferb raised his finger and opened his mouth to say something, then closed it again and walked away. He paused at his bedroom door and looked over his shoulder toward Candace's room. He shook his head and descended the stairs.

Ferb took his phone out of his pocket and placed it on the table. He pulled out two plates and two glasses. Ferb knew that Candace would try to apologise; she always did. He put three cookies on each plate and filled the glasses with milk. He took a seat at the table and waited.

Candace had buried her face in her pillow for a few minutes. Poor Phineas. He must be devastated. She thought then opened her bedroom door. Just as she suspected, the hallway was empty. She went to her brothers' room and knocked on the door; no answer. She went downstairs.

Ferb was sitting at the kitchen table and heard the creak of the fourth step. I should ask my father if he'd mind if I fixed that. It wouldn't take long. He thought to himself then saw Candace walk in.

Candace stepped into the kitchen. "Ferb? What are you doing here?" She said then noticed the plates and glasses. "You're the one who knocked?" Ferb nodded and glanced at her then at the empty chair beside him. Candace sat beside her step-brother.

"I thought you were Phineas." She began and Ferb took a sip of his milk. "I should have known better." She finished. Ferb gave no response, only picked up a cookie from his plate.

Ferb's phone started to vibrate on the table; he ignored it. He had voice mail after all.

Candace ate one of the cookies. "I was hoping that I could hang out with someone today." She said, then bit into another cookie before continuing. "Jeremy's at work. Stacy is tutoring someone and Jenny's at a rally of some sort." She complained then looked at Ferb, who sighed.

"I guess things could be worse." Candace said and Ferb nodded. "I could have no boyfriend." She commented, then saw Ferb wince slightly, or maybe it was just a shadow from outside. "I guess I should use my free time to do something productive." She said.

Ferb's phone vibrated again; he ignored it.

Candace looked to the 14-year-old sitting beside her. "What do you do when everyone else is busy?" Ferb looked to the table a moment then at his sister; who spoke for him. "You just do what you do." Ferb nodded.

Ferb's phone vibrated again; Candace reached out for it. "Answer this will you? It's driving me crazy. Why don't you ever answer your phone? What's the point of having one if you're just going to ignore it?"

Ferb looked to the table. "What's the point of talking with someone; if you're not going to listen?"
