Suou slowly opened her sore, green eyes before she noticed sunlight poking through her casement window. The red-headed teen scrunched her eyelids tightly together as she let out a muffled yet irritated groan. She then turned over on her side while lifting a rutty white bedsheet over her head and inwardly refused to arise. Sometimes, Suou wanted to stay asleep forever so she could remain in her blissful dream world; the same world that consisted of pink clouds made of cotton candy, chocolate rivers and stars that exploded into fireworks. That wonderland was her one source of comfort as she struggled to survive the hellish nightmare she was forced to endure. The poor girl was tired, tired of carrying the cross of a Contractor; being forced to kill, not being able to trust anyone, having no place to call home or a family to depend on. What kind of life was that?! =
Then again, the events that conspired the night before made her question if she even had a life:

When she looked out the window of her assigned berth, Suou realized that the sky looked like a blackboard peppered with glitter. A small part of her wished that she could stretch out one of her arms and steal one of those silver specks attached to that wild dark yonder.
'Too bad someone's life would be stolen with it.' Suou thought with a frown.
"They became the stars after the real ones disappeared," her father would say. "In other words, each orb of light that appears in the sky every evening holds a Contractor's life force."
The memory of those words almost made Suou want to laugh until tears fell from her eyes. To think, she would never be able to recognize her essence even though it was staring her in the face. It's as if she were a Whopper covered in a thick blanket of chocolate that hid the strawberry cream setting her apart from other malted milk balls. Or perhaps it was a means that nature took to inform her that she was no different from the other members of her race. That she was another empty vessel with no purpose but serve as an advocate for those who didn't want to take responsibility for their sins. Not to mention the fact that-
Suou shook her head.
Deciding not to dwell on the matter anymore, she arched her back towards the ground and pulled her red knapsack from underneath the leather seat she sat in.
