Chapter 1 - Regrets

The azure rays of the setting sun glinted of the previously washed windows of the Winner manner. Reflection an unusual rainbow, it caused merriment and amusement for the winner heir, Quatre Rebera Winner, as he watched from inside his study. He rubbed his temples as he tried to concentrate on the countless papers that laid in front of him, waiting to be approved. "There's no way I can complete these paper by today, fighting mobile suits was way easier than this." Quatre took a step back from the window and leaned over to the door thinking about whether to make another escape or be responsible. He sighed as he slouched himself against the door; he couldn't escape. His subjects had already warned him that people were loosing faith in his leading skills. "Well let them, I don't care. I didn't ask for this anyway." Quatre banged his coiled fist against the wooden door and snapped out of his anger once he heard the sound of it hitting; possibly splinting the door.

Since his fathers demise; a much painful memory for Quatre, he had been left with the responsibility of carrying out the Winner families name. He reproached being who he was for a second and then felt instant guilt. His father had died, risking his life for that same purpose, for Quatre to continue on being who he was. Even with that though, regret lingered in the pit of Quatre's stomach, making him feel very much ill. He slowly turned the brass knob and walked silently down the illusive hallway. Portraits hung at every archway of the manner.

Rain drizzled monotonously on the windows leaving a smell of mist and sorrow. "Excuse me sir, a lady is at the door." Quatre looked at the maid and nodded curtly. He walked towards the main doorway and looked out to find Relena on his doorstep. Her long hair which resembled wheat on an early morning waved in the cold wind. She held an umbrella in her hands; he cheeks were colored red from the cold. "Oh, come in Relena. I guess that I just trailed off." Relena nodded and then walked in slowly displacing her pink scarf on the hook. "Quatre I have some official news to say to you, it's really urgent." Quatre sighed at the sound of business and nodded. "Fine then, come and sit down, you must be exhausted."  Relena nodded and made her way to the parlor, sat down, and took a sip of the tea that the maid had brought her.

"The general that your father used to work for; General Castillo, is coming into town tomorrow to finish a proposition that he started with you father and of course will be continuing with you."

"But Relena, why did you come here, couldn't you just send me an email?"  Relena shook her head in a worried manner. "Unfortunately something has been happening with my electric power and so I couldn't."  Quatre nodded and said; "Can I offer you a ride?" Relena nodded gratefully and Quatre arranged the limousine.

They both made their way into the comfortable limousine and begin to talk. "This proposition is very important Quatre, so could you please just…." Quatre grimaced; "So what you doubt me too?" Relena shook her head thoroughly. "No, that's not it at all. It's just that your father worked on this for years, so I'm just saying. Do not take it to offence, it was not meant to be." Quatre nodded in a solitary manner. "Oh, and Quarter, Quatre nodded his head as if to say go on. He will be bringing his three daughters as well." Quatre nodded absently and continued on the way to Relena's house.
