"I'm sorry, but this is goodbye…"
Why? Why does it have to end this way? Why does everyone I love… leave me?
"…Fratello? Are you alright?" North Italy said as he entered his older brother's room. Outside, Seborga stood quietly, also worrying for Romano.
But then again, who wouldn't? Heaven knows how long he's stayed in his room for. Most of the other countries had noticed his absence, but they weren't sure when he had gone.
Everyone only began to notice after a strange lack of curses thrown their way, after all.
"W-What is it, idiota fratello? S-shouldn't you knock first?" South Italy replied shakily. His eyes were swollen from crying, while blood dripped from his shaking hands.
"Roma! What happened to your hand?!" North Italy ran forward and reached for South Italy's hand, which was immediately retracted by him.
"I-It's nothing, I accidentally cut myself earlier when I slid across a sharp edge of a table…" Romano made up an excuse hurriedly. He didn't want to let Veneziano know the truth after all.
"Ve~… Seborga, could you please get the medical supplies, please?" Veneziano said, as he tried to grab Romano's hand again. Seborga quickly got up and brought them the supplies they needed.
"Fratello, the death of Spain's was a big blow to you, wasn't it? After all, you two were dear to each other…" North Italy began, as he attempted to apply the medication to his brother's hands and bandage them.
"But, I'm sure Spain wouldn't want you to be like that after his death. Ever since then, you've stayed in your room, and I've not seen you come out once. Spain would definitely want you to be happy, even if he's not around. Even though we countries are immortal for the most part, you can't keep doing this."
"Everyone's worried about you, Romano. Russia, Romania, China, France… they all are. Most of us didn't realise the close relations between you and Spain, so it mostly slipped our minds you'd be affected so badly. We're sorry. We countries terrible friends, aren't we?"
"We have no choice but to keep moving forward, and move on. I know, it is hard to forget, and even I haven't really done so, but… it's okay if you can't. Even now, I still await his return. All I'm asking you to do is to find happiness again." Veneziano finished up bandaging South Italy's hands, and smiled at his older brother.
"Please, be happy for all of us, okay?"
"But, if you looked outside of the sadness around you, you'll see the specks of happiness dotted around as well. Just look around, and you'll see all of the people who care and love for you. We're always going to be here for you, okay?"
I guess it wasn't such a terrible thing, after all…
"…Thank you, Veneziano…"
