Hide and Seek

Kagome giggled as InuYasha wrapped his arms around her, snugging her close to his chest. The branch beneath her legs was smoother than she expected, and as she pushed a small branch out of her face, she enjoyed the view.

"You know, we're really getting too old to play hide and seek this way," she said.

"Can't help it if you don't know how to hide," he replied, nuzzling the side of her neck. Warm lips touched the skin right above her collar.

"But what if – " She tried to turn and look at him, but the height of their perch, and the lovely things InuYasha was doing to her earlobe made movement impossible.

"Keh, you worry too much, woman," he said. His hands began to explore the front of her kosode.

She play-slapped at his hand. "Behave yourself. What if – "

"Shh," he said. "We're supposed to be hiding." He took a deep breath. "Be still," he whispered, freezing in place.

A bird flushed out of a bush below them, its wings whirling, followed by a flash of silver and dark blue. A small boy, silver-haired and dog-eared, took a deep breath close to the ground, looking around the area, like he was searching for something. Kagome worked hard to stifle a giggle.

Suddenly, he looked up. "Daddy! I found you!"

InuYasha looked at his wife. "See, I told you there was nothing to worry about. Boy's got to learn to track, you know." Kissing her on the cheek then holding on to her tightly, he dropped out of the tree to the sound of her laughing.
