Those In Passing
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Chip has learned a lot from the people in his life. From his mom, he learned about sacrifice. From Daggeron, he learned about courage. From Sentinel Knight, he learned about fortitude.
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Chip didn't understand why he had to keep the Sentinel Knight a secret.
He was sure that the others would understand.
But the Sentinel Knight insisted that he didn't.
For shiny ghost, he can sure be picky.
Today was special and he can't be picky today. He won't let it.
"Why did you summon me here, Chip?"
He could feel the pressing glow close to him.
"I thought that you should be here."
"For what?"
"Today, we have a holiday that we call Memorial Day. We honor our fallen soldiers. And the world may not know them. I thought that I should honor the old mystics. Maybe, you can light a candle for your own comrades "
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the light come closer.
"I have never spoken of any comrades."
"You don't need to talk about other knights for me to know."
"…..I do not understand."
He stuck a match and light up of the votive candles that he brought from the store. It didn't take him long to set it up in the cave that he and Sentinel Knight sometimes talk in.
"Three times a year, me and my mom go and visit my dad's grave. We just talk…we tell him everything that is going on about school, my uncle, my aunt, my cousins, and my friends. I told him that I am a power ranger and training to be a knight. Sometimes, I wonder what he would have thought. Do you get the same thoughts?"
There was a long pause of silence between them before Sentinel Knight spoke.
"Erickson would say that my plan was madness. Earth was no place for the jewels. The planet was undeveloped and could endanger the creatures here. He would care for the well-fare of others before himself."
"Anyone else disagree with you?"
"Claus felt the same way but for a different reason. He believed that the people from your planet would try to use the power of the jewels for themselves. In a way, he was correct but it was others who wanted the gems."
"What about the others?"
"Cassandra talked about separating the jewels onto separate planets. K'al wanted none of that. He wanted to keep the jewels together."
"I bet that you were never bored."
"Never."
"What were they like?"
Sentinel Knight laughed softly. He was slightly amazed. Sentinel Knight never laughed like that before. His glow began to light up the entire cave. It brought a smile to his face as he weaved tales of them training together. How Claus and Cassandra had a love slash hate relationship. How K'al was a prince but really a joker at heart. How Erickson was like a father to them all.
How even if they didn't agree with Sentinel Knight's plan….they still stood by him. How they forced him to flee.
Even alone and lost, he continued on his journey here. How he wandered for many years until he reached here.
"….Once I landed, I set the jewels and the crowd free. Then I watched…."
A silence enveloped around them as they stared at the candles. Sentinel Knight approached the candles and their wicks came to light. Sentinel Knight floated back behind him.
"Chip?"
"Yes."
"Thank you for sharing this holiday with me."
"You are welcome."
