Author's Notes: The timeline is simple, right after Optimus died in Armada.
That Which Remains
Jetfire walked inside the base with ineven steps. Safely tucked in his arms were Sparkplug and the Matrix, all that was left of Optimus Prime.
Jetfire knew that everyone was at the command bridge but he found himself walking to the opposite direction. The others needed him to be strong for them but he was unable to do that at the moment. He needed to pull himself together and heal his own inner wounds before he could help anyone else with theirs.
With a heavy sigh the flyer dropped himself on a rock right outside the base. He carefully laid his valuable burden to the rock beside him and observed Sparkplug's empty and emotionless face as the minicon rested in offline mode.
Suddenly a pair of arms wrapped themselves around Jetfire's chest from behind. When a head was pressed against the back of his own Jetfire realized the transformer to be the one he least wanted to see, the one that would need his support the most. Even thought Jetfire knew himself to be unable to give comfort to the other at the moment he was glad he was there.
Jetfire placed his hand over a dark grey one, giving it a subtle squeeze. He whispered the other's name carefully, gratefully: "Hot Shot."
"I understand", was all the smaller bot said and Jetfire felt his spark grow stronger from the words.
"So do I", the white bot replied to the one behind him. Neither of them said anything after that. They did not need to, because both of them understood.
The End
Ending Notes: I actually see Hot Shot leaning on Jetfire for comfort when Optimus is gone. The other option would have been Scavenger but Jetfire is a much better option, since he could seek comfort from Hot Shot aswell.
