This is a poem I wrote one day during school after reading the book 'A Child Called It'. I hope you like it. I would extremely appreciate any and all opinions and recommendations for this poem and to my writing in general.

7-7-08: Thank you Reidluver for your review! I found the mistakes with the he/she in refernce to the 'mother' and fixed them, as well as changed he last line.

Father! Father!

I hurt today.

'Cause Mother beat me yesterday.

she says you left because of me.

Tell me, tell me, can this be?

I love you Father.

So please come back.

Maybe Mother won't turn me black.

Maybe I won't cry each night.

Or clean up blood and beer in fright.

I'm a good boy Father.

So please don't go.

What is love?

I want to know!

Teacher says it's wonderful,

And what all parents show.

But, if this is love,

What Mother has?

Then why must it always hurt so?

If this is love,

Then perhaps I wish,

That Mother didn't care.

And that she could hate me just enough,

To think I wasn't even there.

But Father, Father!

My question for you,

And what I'd like to know:

Does that make me a bad little boy?

If I never love my Mother back?

Please tell me what you think!
