A/N: The instrumental piece "Nero" by Two Steps from Hell inspires all my Vanessa/Wilson work.
This is how it felt. A diamond—so hard, so cold, so beautifully permanent on your finger.
And this is what you heard—his voice, his promises. Forever, and they could not take that away, not even while they took him.
You will wait. You are too deep or not deep enough. Either way, there is no other choice. You have already marked this path as your own—proudly, boldly. There's no art unless it's messy, once or twice. In the end, someone always hangs. You'll hang on a gallery wall. You and him. You were made for museums.
This is how it felt. The whir of a helicopter, and the sound of waiting in your ears.
He doesn't come. He doesn't come.
But you know him well, and you know it's because he's been delayed, not defeated. Never deceitful.
You will rule the world one day.
People will stand in line to point and whisper, to gaze and question. For who understands art, until after it is created? It is always bloody, blessed mayhem before.
You will wait. And he will come.
This is how stories begin. And you—you want to be a legend.
