She knew the second she had laid eyes on him he was trouble. Yet, despite every warning bell in her head, she returned every flirtation he shot at her, accepted every drink, and let herself begin to fall for him anyway. They left the bar together that night. She never realized the steps she took lead her down a road she couldn't come back from.

I knew you were trouble when you walked in

He wooed her that night. He drove them up to a small clearing where they could lay and look at the stars. Inhibitions were low. She began doubting her original thoughts about him. Someone this beautiful…this sweet…couldn't possibly be bad. He pointed out constellations to her, and she listened in fascination. He seemed to be an endless fountain of knowledge. He took her home, ever the gentleman, and gave her a kiss on the cheek as they stood on her doorstep. She smiled to herself as he left, bringing her hand to her cheek where he had kissed her.

So shame on me now

The next day, he arrived at her door and took her for a picnic in the park. The sun warmed their skin as they laughed together. It was as if they'd been doing this for a lifetime.

He continued surprising her throughout the following weeks. He would always show up to take her on some adventure: a swim in the lake, dancing at a rave, hiking to a waterfall, cooking them a fancy dinner, teaching her to paint, taking her horseback riding. Every day brought a new experience for her.

Flew me to places I'd never been

One day, everything changed. It blindsided her. She'd never seen it coming. He was cold to her. They rarely spoke. They never laughed or had any more adventures. Then, she was suddenly swept up in a world she never knew existed, and he was in the middle of it. One night as they walked together, she reached the end of the path she'd been on. There was a man that looked as if he could be related to him. He turned away from her to face the man, and when he turned back, she no longer recognized the face staring back at her. Black veins and sharp teeth were all she could see before she felt him grab her and sink those teeth into her neck. Her brain could barely register what had happened. Everything had changed so quickly. She couldn't grasp how it had taken less than a second for her whole world to change. He released her body, and she collapsed to the ground.

Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground

He turned and walked away from her, not even glancing back. As she lay on the ground waiting for death to take her, she realized her instincts had been right.

Kol Mikaelson was trouble.
