Title: Cuter is Better
Drabble: #3
TK's prompt: Possum
Randomly selected pairing: Miyakeru
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: Not knowing what a possum is was a large obstacle. It took me longer to find out what they were than to actually write this. I think I'm doing good with these drabbles so far.

It's a possum, Miyako states. Without a doubt. Its eyes are slanted, its nose is long and its ears are tiny. It's also the most adorable animal in the world as far as Miyako is concerned, and there's no way that the creature in the picture could possibly be anything else.

Takeru begs to differ, claiming that it's a rat. An abnormally large and discoloured rat, but a rat nonetheless. After all, those teeth it's baring are exactly the kind of things that rats need to tear their food apart in the sewers. He knows; he had a rat once as a pet before it escaped.

By no stretch of the imagination, Miyako argues, can the creature be a rat. Rats are repulsive, disgusting beasts which will eat you alive if you give them half the chance. The creature in the picture is far too cute to be capable of such a thing. Besides, what would a rat be doing up a tree anyway?

It's at this point that Takeru realises he might be fighting a losing battle, so he tries to lower the possibility of an 'I told you so' by telling her that she is far cuter than any possum could ever be. He laughs when she blushes, and goes on to say that maybe this particular rat was too sophisticated to live in a sewer.

Miyako is not convinced, and tells him that's absurd. Rats don't do sophisticated. They're horrible scavengers and shouldn't be allowed above ground. Possums, however, love to climb. It's only natural that you'd find one up a tree.

Now Takeru is certain he has lost the debate, so instead of coming up with more obscure reasons for the animal being a rat, he says that he loves her more than possums love climbing.

Miyako scolds him for trying to change the subject.
