"Cruicio!"
She clutched the small body tighter to her, trying to keep the child safe.
Just a bit longer. I can wait just a bit longer. She thought to herself.
Her body shook in pain and her muscles were exhausted. But she knew she couldn't give up. She couldn't let the little boy die at the hands of these monsters.
"Come now Seren. We both know you can't keep this up for much longer. Why do you continue to shelter the boy?" the cruel voice hissed.
"I will not let him be harmed. He does not deserve this. He's just a boy my lord."
"That is correct Seren. He is just one blood treasonous boy. Move aside!" Seren flinched as he raised his voice, something he rarely did.
She opened her eyes and looked down. She was used to seeing little Teddy's hair a vibrant blue or green. They were his favorite color. But right now the four year old was too scared to concentrate hard enough to keep them any one color.
He burrowed deeper against his only form of protection and whimpered. Seren kissed his head and rubbed his back with a shaky hand in an attempt to soothe.
"It's alright darling. We will be just fine. Help will be here soon." She spoke softly with a trembling voice in Teddy's ear.
Voldemort's feet could be heard softly padding across the floor as he paced. He watched her. That dark raven hair that he loved, wet with sweat. Her betrayal was still ringing in his ears. The one person he had trusted had allied with his enemies to destroy him. Not so long ago, she had been walking around the manor, giving her small beautiful smiles, looking like vision of the dark goddess she was.
Now she kneeled shaking in pain on the floor, hunched over a dirty blood traitor child to protect him.
She could hear his breathing changing. He was getting angrier and angrier. This was it. He was either going to kill her or curse her to the point of insanity.
The tears in Seren's eyes spilled over as she adjusted Teddy to keep him completely shielded. She let out a sob as the Dark Lord raised his wand.
"My dear Seren. I loved you. I trusted you. And in return you have proven that all that does is allow weakness. Now I must strengthen myself. CRUCIO!"
The pain was unbearable. She let out a scream that echoed through the entire manor and began to lose consciousness.
Four simple thoughts were on repeat as she she lost the will to fight back...
Draco...I'm sorry...I can't do it anymore...I love you...
