Over the River
Chapter 1: Entry
IorekBynison
Dear Diary,
Throughout all my journeys in the past I never thought that my story would last as anything other than those superstitions my grandfather told me as bedtime tales. My journey and that of my closest friends is magical and full of things and people that are merely fairy tales in my home. Where I come from demons aren't real and magic is illusion. Where I come from women do not possess healing powers in any way other than a medical degree. Where I come from sentient swords pulled from the jaws of taiyoukai long past are buried under commercial gain because money is the way to kill in a capitalist world.
My name is Kagome Higurashi. I am 17, a senior in high school. If you asked my friends at school they would tell you that I am a weak person or that I miss school often because of illness. If you asked my teacher they would probably tell you that I tried very hard, but I would never get into a decent college. If you asked my neighbors they would simply tell you that my special skill was running a shrine.
My name is Kagome Higurashi. I am 17, a senior in high school and while I can tend to a shrine like the best of them that is not my special skill. I am a time traveler. Each day my life is filled with more danger, more adrenaline, more friendship, and more responsibility than any of my friends at school could imagine. I am the protector of the Shikon no tama, a jewel said to grant the wish of any no matter the intentions of the person. I am a miko with arrows that purify demons the like of which only exist in today's nightmares.
When I went to history class two days ago I had no idea that my story would be the material for the next test nor did I even imagine that keeping a diary would get me an A in History. You, dear teacher, will probably read some fantastical diary entries two months from now, but know that every word in this assignment is true. The shikon mistress from the legends is me and I take solace knowing that you would never believe that.
This diary will chronicle the rest of my journey in the past. It's ending soon, the tides of change are lapping at the beach and soon the only shards that will remain unpurified will be in the possession of Kouga , Naraku, or myself. Should I perish in the battles ahead then this diary will be destroyed as will my belongings to prevent the calamity of finding 20th century products carbon dated as five hundred years old. Should I live to see this assignment turned in then that too will be great, but I can't say that I'll stick around.
I am Kagome Higurashi. Welcome to my life.
End entry
-AN: Yes, I know I should not be starting a new story as I have so many that aren't finished yet, but this is a side project that I have no intention of finishing any time soon. If you wish to adopt the idea, just PM me so I know you're doing it. A few things to note if I ever do eventually continue it on my own: This is completely AU. There will be things written that do not fall within the rules of the manga or anime because, quite frankly, I never read the manga and the anime became annoying after the first few seasons.
This chapter has been sitting on my computer for a while now and I just felt that I should post it. I have some of it outlined, but nothing else written. Reviews with ideas and opinions are appreciated.
Until Next time!
