||Epilogue: A Quick Run||
Rory Prire was running. Running was one of the only things that cleared his mind. Well, it was something that he could do without really drawing attention, because he'd been told flying in the daytime was a "no-no". It didn't matter, he still did it afterschool sometimes, but only when he was downloading something really important (like illegal music to woo Erica). As he "zoomed" from place to place, his mind was anything but clear.
First he thought about the running, because that was the point in him running in the first place; get his mind off of things, slow it all down, etc. Then he thought about Erica, because she was why he downloaded illegal stuff.
That led to thinking about girls in general. Somehow, they were always what he wound up thinking about. He was helpless against their weapons; pink lips, soft hair, lean legs, and a short skirt, call him a victim. He was no match for the opposite sex, even though most of them had no interest in him. This reminded him that he needed a girlfriend. Let's face it though; Rory knew he wasn't the top of the totem pole. Sure, he was undeniably the best looking guy, but the ladies were too intimidated.
That's what he told himself when Erica made a snarky remark about him or a cheerleader snubbed him. He shook his head. He wasn't running to think about that. He was running to stop thinking. His mom always told him he needed to calm down a little. The doctors tried to say it was Attention Deficit Disorder, which it wasn't, because Rory knew he was just really excited about life in general.
It was this train of thought that stopped Rory from paying attention to where he was "running". You could say the car he ran smack into was a nice distraction from thinking.
It was a successful morning run after all.
