Something about this guy seemed familiar...she saw it a bit in the way he walked, heard it in the way he talked...and that laugh- she couldn't forget that.
But maybe it was just coincidence. This person she was trying to envision in Chris couldn't be there- there are 6 billion people out there; and it cant be this nut case. They have different names, hair color, and manners. Going by the memory of a laugh was not enough...(flashback 8 years)
Jude laughed in that calming and somehow caring way when Gwen finished her confession. Jude's friend and Gwen's older sister Nikki had left the room to retrieve something.
"What?" She said. "My parents have 10 yrs between them. And we only have 8..." She sounded little hurt which made Jude's smile fall.
"Ya. But lil Gwenny, I'm 16 and your 8 its different. He patted her head and gave her a sympathetic smile. He didn't bother saying when your older.
"Since when were you responsible?" She said as sh sharply motioned to the table. There were green leaves and smoking materials on it.
Jude looked at her with a moment of sadness. "Still different.."
She didn't want to think about it anymore. That conversation was the last time he hung out with her older sister at their house, and the last summer she cared to see him. She had really liked Jude a LOT and took a lot of courage to tell him.
Although she couldn't bare to see him she could not stop her heart from caring. She had no friends good enough to console in after ll th time admiring Jude. He had never ignored or smoked around her like Nikki and the others did.
She became bitter each year. She would never touch the stuff Nikki and her friends did- EVER! Then dyed he hair teal in memory of Jude and her favorite color in memory. He had left town the middle of his junior year...
