"Remus?" Remus looked up. He was sat by the fire in the Burrow's sitting room. Molly had insisted that they all return to the Burrow together tonight. They needed to be together, after all that had happened.

Tonks was stood in the doorway, her eyes wide and puffy, and her face grey. Her hands were curled around a mug of tea and her hair, Remus was sad to see, was still mousy brown. He knew why it was mousy brown of course, and he knew exactly what the conversation they were about to have would entail.

"Remus, I need to talk to you."

He sighed, and shook his head. "Now?"

"Yes, now."

"Even though Dumbledore's just died?"

"Yes. He always believed in love."

"No Nymphadora. I cannot have this conversation with you again."

"Please." She must want it if she was neglecting to correct her name, he thought. Tonks lifted her feet high as she walked across to sit on the sofa, not wanting to trip and spill her tea.

"You don't understand-"

"I don't care!"

Remus sighed again. They'd had this conversation barely half an hour ago in the hospital wing.

She seemed to read his thoughts. "They all agree with me. They all see that love is love, it can't be denied. They all see that young men aren't always young and good. You heard them."

"I'm dangerous."

"To who? To yourself? Because that's what your brooding does, it makes you a danger to yourself. We've had this conversation so many times Remus. I'm beginning to wonder if you do care. Sirius thought you did but...maybe we were wrong..." Tonks looked so downcast, so upset, so not like Tonks that Remus felt his heart break a little. He was the cause of her heartbreak. He could do something about it. Maybe it was time to stop being a Martyr. Sirius had told him that the worst thing he could do to him was deny he loved his cousin.

"I do care," he said softly, barely audiable. "I care so much, too much even. But I'm scared."

Tonks looked up at him, suddenly hopeful. "I love you. And I know you're scared, but I'm here. Isn't that what people in relationships do, work out their problems with each other together?"

Remus laughed - an odd, unused sound. He took the mug from her hands and placed it on the table between chair and sofa, so he could take her hands in his own. They were still warm from the tea. He couldn't help smiling slightly "Is that what we're in? A relationship?"

"Are we?" Her eyes searched his face.

"I can't deny I love you, Dora. I'm wondering if Sirius was right. He always said I worried too much to ever be happy. But I'd like to be happy. I'd like to love you. But I'm a werewolf."

Tonks smiled wryly. "Yes, you're a werewolf. But you're also the most honest, kind considerate, compassionate man I have ever met. You don't see it, but you're so much more than just a werewolf."

Remus smiled wider. Maybe, just maybe, this might work. He'd finally found a girl who saw him as more than just a werewolf. Without thinking too much, he leaned across the gap and pressed his lips to hers. He felt her smile under them, and she kissed him back gently.

When she pulled away minutes later, she scrunched up her face, and her hair resumed its standard shocking pink colour. Remus grinned. "I hope you don't mind," Tonks said, "But pink's for when I'm really, really happy, and I'm really happy right now."

Remus leaned in to kiss her again. No, he really didn't mind. Because he was really, really happy too.

A/N: Just a little one shot on how I think Remus and Tonks got together. Short and sweet, and probably my last post before NaNoWriMo. Please review!
