A/N: This is for the Father's Day challenge by Kore-of-Myth, and it's dedicated to my own daddy, who will never read this, but I love him anyway! And to my grandpa, in hopes that this won't be your last Father's Day. With love!

"Daddy!" screamed Luna in a fit of normal teenager.

He blinked at her, but hugged her tightly. How he'd missed his daughter—how he always missed her.

"Ooh, Daddy, I missed you! I've been thinking about Nargles a lot, and how you promised me to take me after seventh year. Well, I've been thinking, Daddy—." She chattered on and on in a most un-Luna-like fashion.

"Luna, my love, what is going on? How is school?"

"Oh, Daddy, I made a friend! Friends, actually! There's Ginny, and Neville, and Harry, and Ron, and Hermione, and the DA!"

"What's the DA?" Suddenly, his attention was caught.

"Dumbledore's Army. Harry Potter started it to fight the horrible Defense against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge. She's from the Ministry, Daddy, and she's horrible!" Yet her face sparkled as she explained in detail each of her new friends.

His heart warmed and practically exploded when she told of each with care.

"And Ron, last but never, ever least." He was startled by the look on her face as she said this. "He's so cute, Daddy. And he's funny. He's such a great guy! But he's in love with Hermione Granger…" She gave a little sigh. Not a Luna sigh. A real, usual teenager sigh.

"How about that Neville one, though?" he asked, unsure of how to act in the situation. Should he steer her away?

She gave a funny little giggle. "He's sweet. But so…not Ron, you know, Daddy?"

"Uh, right, dear. Love, how's Dumbledore?"

What else could he do but change the subject?

He had her back. He had his Luna in his arms, and he was hugging her tightly.

"Daddy, I missed you so much," she whispered into his chest. All of her babblings were gone, replaced by a voice full of tears.

"How was school?" he whispered. She laughed a little bit, wiping one of her eyes.

"Oh, boring," she joked. He ruffled her blonde locks and hugged her again.

"That battle was something, wasn't it?"

"Yes. Neville was really brave."

"Yes, so he was. Didn't he kill the snake?"

"Of course. He's such a good person, you know?"

He saw it in her face again. That—that look of childish attraction—the oddest thing that was never studied. He briefly wondered why—if he'd been more of a scientist, he would have.

"Oh, my Luna, how I love you…"

He was crying.

His Luna was leaving forever. More than Hogwarts, more than her own apartment—she was getting married and going off to Australia.

This was it, wasn't it? His Luna wouldn't be his anymore. She would be Rolf's Luna.

After all that, he found it amusing that Luna married not Ron or Neville, but Rolf Scamander. But it was a good choice. She'd asked him, and he honestly agreed—it was a good choice. And he loved her for it.

He did love her. He was her father, after all.
