I have decided to rewrite this story and I hope you guys enjoy it
This was the wild card Mileena was hoping for throughout this whole ordeal. After the information concerning the destruction of Blaze had gotten out, every single warrior she had ever met throughout her lifetime seemed to have made their way to the Pyramid of Argus seeking power. She found out the consequence of having so many enemies, having personally wronged many in her quest for revenge and supremacy. The tarkatan was taken out before she could even make it halfway up the great pyramid.
Thankfully for her, nothing happened when Taven defeated the fire-spawn warrior. She expected swift death or worse, have her powers snatched from her. The eerie silence that followed soon after the blast of Blaze's destruction was surprisingly disappointing. It was all for naught.
Only it wasn't. It all made sense now. Of course there had to be another way. The secret third option put in place in case something went awry, or Blaze was corrupted.
The Kilano. Instead of simply surrendering combatants' special gifts into oblivion, the Kilano would let the wielder absorb those powers for themselves.
Mileena had of course heard of this mysterious Kilano many years ago, but it was a known fact that it was just a myth, a legend, a wish born out of a desperate person wanting an easy way to gain power. Only now that Shang Tsung was consuming an overabundance of souls to recuperate his strength did he come across a priest who had been lingering by the battleground who knew the truth. Shang Tsung explained that when he absorbed the man's essence, he was able to capture enough glimpses into his life to see the myth with his very own eyes. He was able to decipher the fact that he was once one of the high priests in Delia's Edenian temple and was involved in finding a place where the instrument could be hidden until the day where it would have to be used by the child of the sorceress to save the realms from Armageddon.
Unfortunately, he was unable to see where the artifact was kept but knowing that the whole situation was connected to the battle that took place only a couple of weeks ago gave them options on how to approach this.
"He is weak right now, the time to attack is now!" the sorcerer slammed his fists on the table, angered by the lack of urgency in the room.
For his part, the emperor was annoyed by Tsung's actions. The only idea he had was to simply storm the castle. "We attack him, and then what?"
"We make him talk!"
Enough of this foolishness Mileena thought. They had to act fast or this opportunity would slip away. "He won't talk," the tarkatan began. "He'll keep his mouth shut. That's if he knows."
"You think he doesn't?"
"I don't think so. He would be coming after us if he did," It's what she would do if it were her. She pondered the possibilities. It wouldn't make sense for him to know where it is and not use it for his battle against Daegon or Blaze. "In continuing with the pattern, they must have given Taven clues as to where it is, and he just hasn't found it yet."
"Wouldn't that mean that perhaps Daegon has those same clues as well? He is much more susceptible to work with us."
If anybody knew of the Kilano's whereabouts it would surely be Taven, he was after all the obviously favored son in their family. "No. If he did, he would have found it by now. He's been awake for many years. Taven, however, has just been released from his incubation, so it is possible that he has yet to even find the clues."
"So what do we do then?"
They would have to wait. They would have to be patient.
"We have the element of surprise and we must not lose it," Shao Kahn stressed his point. "If he finds out that we are after him, he will look for help. The forces of good almost overpowered us last time; we must not let them have the advantage over us. We must be careful that word of this does not go beyond these walls. If news of the Kilano being real spreads to the other warriors, Armageddon will befall us. We cannot risk someone else getting their hands on our prize."
"This is precisely why we have to act now."
"Enough!" the emperor's voice boomed. He stood from his throne and began to pace.
Mileena kept her eyes on him. She saw his brow furrowed as he muttered to himself. The perfect solution wasn't available, but they still had the upper hand. That, beyond everything was the most important aspect they had for success. She cleared her throat to get Shao Kahn's attention.
"We have to keep an eye on him. He hasn't found it yet. But when he does," Mileena outstretched her hand, as if offering it to Kahn to hold, "when he has the Kilano in his hands, we will appear from the shadows and snatch it from him!" she growled and snapped her hand back.
