It felt odd, for everyone I think we had never stayed at my house longer than a minute or so. But I think with the circumstances everyone felt aloof being here, including me. I probably looked like a slut, a black hearted floosie to these cops. They were investigating my aunts death. I knew what killed her everyone knew it was her whiskey. She was always drunk, and I would come home and we would argue, but I never thought it would go like this.
Two Bit walked me home from the sockhop. I was tired and oblivious, so naturally I stumbled. He caught we with one arm by the waist and saved my new high heels from a fresh puddle.
"Thanks Two Bit, I..uh..guess I'm tired."
"Anytime, Honey" His arm latched to my waist and we rounded the corner, it was quiet and only one light was on. We took quiet steps onto my squeaking front steps, or as quiet as cowboy boots and high heels can be.
"Goodnight Jo," and before I knew it I was swung around and held with both his hands on my hips. My hands rested on his shoulders where they traced the stitching on his collar.
"Red, I would really, really love for you to be my girl," he stuttered out.
"Well, so would I Mister Mathews," I smiled so wide that he had to smile too and like a spell our lips met and there wasn't any room left between us to move.
She was waiting for me, as she always was when I come home, and I walked directly to the staircase to avoid any pre-bed bickering. I made it to my bedroom with only one remark , calling me a no good slut. She must have been wasted, because usually her insults included a string of curses. I would have stayed in my room all night, but it was laundry night. I collected every stray pair of jeans, t-shirt and sock I could find and carried the wicker basket full down to the basement. By now, I was experienced in tip-toeing my way around, and I walked pigeon-toed to the washing machine. I braced my mind for the deafening argument but none came. Delicately, I nudged Aunt Dot's doo open. I would never forget what I saw next.
Author's Note: I know it's short, and sort of confusing. But there is more! Thanks, my first fanfic so review!
