"Paper Doll Silhouettes, Fingertips On Window Glass; The Street's Asleep, So I Breathe You In Deep. The Tragedies Of Chemistry, People Dream Of What You And Me Have Found...Effortlessly."
Danny and Alice stood together on the veranda, holding each other close.
Nobody paid them much attention, they were all too busy talking to witness the way he murmured sweet nothings into her ear, and how she would smile and whisper back in her smooth Scottish accent that he loved so much. Danny looked at her and kissed her delicately, softly stroking her baby bump, causing Alice to sigh in happiness. For once in her life, everything was perfect.
Alice was beautiful. Everyone could see that. From the second she arrived at Leopard's Den, Danny had noticed those glimmering, sapphire eyes, and her soft, dark hair that was always perfect. Every time he looked at her, it was almost as if he was seeing her again for the first time. He noticed another shade or blue in her eyes, or a new freckle on her skin, and he would smile his dazzling smile, and his problems would melt away.
Danny look around, seeing his pregnant wife, grinning at him, and his family laughing in idle conversation, while the elephants strolled around contently in the garden. He hadn't felt this good in a long time. And it was all down to Alice. She fixed him when he was at his worse, and he would be eternally grateful for that. Alice looked at him, smiling as he held her even closer. Though he was not the most handsome of men, his love for Alice knew no bounds, and this is what made their relationship special. Unbreakable. Alice could never imagine life without him now. And she didn't want to. Neither of them could have imagined what would have happened after that night in the storm. How they would end up getting married and having a child. They wouldn't have believed it back then. But now, they couldn't imagine it any other way
They had been through so much together. Not just the storm. Mentally as well as physically. Especially Alice. That woman was so strong, and was amazing how after everything she had been through; she still had the energy to carry on. The lion attacked had left her emotionally damaged, but as always; Danny was there to see her through. Alice had been so scared after her ordeal. She wasn't Alice. It was her turn to be broken, and his turn to do the fixing.
Nothing could compare to the relationship they had together. It was the kind of relationship that only exists in fairy tales, and one that someone can only dream of. But what they had, it was real. They were meant to be together. From the second they met, to the end of forever, Danny and Alice will always be together. Although they were not always perfect, they were perfect enough for each other. Nobody could live up to their standards, because no one will ever be good enough for Danny, if they aren't Alice.
"Vanessa! Do you want to stay for tea?" Danny called, gesturing to Leopard's Den as he spoke
"Yeah, you're very welcome to!" Alice added, smiling
"No thank you" I declined politely, even though inside I was broken. I'll never be good enough. I knew that now. "I better go back to Mara"
