"Bill dear, this potion is supposed to help you," Molly said, entering the room. "Now, the man at the apothecary said there might be some side effects but I think he was simply exaggerating..." Her voice trailed off as she saw her son glaring at her.
"You know I don't need it mum," he told her. She tilted her head somewhat condescendingly.
"I know you're hurt about Fleur, son, but that doesn't mean-" she began, but he cute her off
"I told you I don't need it! I'm fine!" he exclaimed, rather loudly, surprising even himself. "Please, mum. Just leave."
Molly put down the vial of potion on the table walked over to the bed where he was sitting. "You're not fine, and you know it," she told him. He bristled inwardly at her comment, but did not reply.
"Look at you," she said, sadly, running her hand through his hair. "You used to be such a brilliant boy." She shook her head in despair and disappointment.
Her words infuriated him this time. "I'm still the same man, mum!" he said, "Just because a werewolf bit me, doesn't make me a different person!"
"You know that's not true, dear. Your wife even left you, and you even lost your for it! If you would just take your potions then maybe everything would be alright again," Molly said, trying to calm him down but instead angering him further.
"Will you stop treating me like an abomination of some sort? I'm a werewolf, not a criminal!" Bill didn't know if he was convincing himself or his mother. He didn't suppose it even mattered anymore. That one bite from Greyback had broken him completely. And now his mother, his own mother, thought he needed to be "fixed".
Molly backed away slowly from her son, realising she would only worsen things. Bill, in his furious state, however, took her silence as confirmation that she too detested him now.
Bill stared at her straight in the eyes. Suddenly, he stood up, as if making a decision. "You know what? I'm leaving," he announced. Molly frowned. "I'm going far far away from here and all of you. Somewhere, where you won't drown me with your stupid potions and foolish prejudices!"
Molly was completely taken aback for a few seconds. Then, she found her tongue again. "If that's your wish, go seek your own ruin."
She then walked out of the room, leaving Bill to contemplate.
I'm a monster now," he whispered to the empty walls, hoping someone would contradict him.
He was met with a cruel silence, instead.
Notes: For the British Literature Challenge on the Golden Snitch. Prompts: Bill Weasley, abomination, despair,"If that's your wish, go seek your own ruin."
Also for the Through the Universe Challenge. Prompt: Molly Weasley.
This is obviously an AU where instead of merely scratching Bill, he was bitten. I had to play around with the timeline a bit too, so that he married Fleur before getting bitten, not after. Also, I always have trouble writing Molly so apologies if she's a bit OOC.
