A/n: Hello, and welcome to: The Pendant Around My Neck. Please don't forget to review! I won't get any better at this if you don't tell me what you think. So unless you want all of my stories to lack something big, review! Oh, and by the way, I am in need of a beta-reader, so if anyone's interested...? Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
The cold wrapped around her shoulders like a blanket, chilling her to the bone. She sat unmoving, staring blankly at the clear night sky, while the wind whipped against her bare skin viciously. Yet she did not care, the piercing cold as inviting as sitting next to a crackling fire. She was perched just below the highest turret set into the Hogwarts roof, undetected and protected with a charm, eyes gleaming wickedly in the harsh glow of the moon. This suited her fine, as she was born a creature of the night, with no sense of fear or foreboding, only anger, hatred, loyalty.
Now. This single word filled her soul, her whole sense of being for one searing instant, her arm blazing with pain.
Yes, my Lord. She jumped.
"It's GONE!" Ginny roared unhappily, turning her room upside down searching for her favorite pendant. Draco had dropped it whilst climbing the stairs onto the Hogwart's Express last June, and she had spied the sparkling object out of the corner of her eye. It was absolutely, stunningly beautiful, shining every color of the rainbow all at once, cut into a perfectly shaped teardrop.
"Ginny... have you forgotten who you are?" Fred laughed, bounding into her room with George at his side. She was positively puzzled until he explained, "You're a witch, for Merlin's sakes!"
"Accio Pendant!" George winked as the fragile necklace flew out from underneath her wardrobe and into his outstretched hand. "Where'd you get this? It looks like it cost quite a bit of money. Did you steal it? Our sister: Thief. Sounds good, if you ask me!"
"George, you are a complete idiot." Ginny rolled her eyes and snatched the jewelry out of his hand, ushering them towards the door. He opened his mouth in defense, but before he could formulate a retort, she slammed the door in their grinning faces. Once she was alone, she sat on her plushy bed and admired the jewel that was now hanging around her neck.
She gently ran her fingers over the smooth crystal, a tingling sensation traveling up her arm, to her neck, and then throughout the rest of her body. A bluish glow surrounded her, and her body fell limp. Once more, she knew no more pain, no more suffering. Happiness consumed her essence as she floated, cross-legged, above her body and briefly wondered if Draco was longing for this escape from the world. Even though she could not move about while in this state, it was welcome. It felt like the first breath of air after holding your breath underneath a pool of water; the first bottle of water after running a marathon.
"Ginny! You in there? It's time to go!" Ron yelled irritably through the old wooden door, snapping her back into existence.
"Alright, Ron! Let me get some clothes on!" She grinned; her eyes sparkling as Ron promptly stopped trying to break the door down.
"Er... all right, then! Come down when you're done!"
A/n: So, what'd you guys think? If you don't tell me, I may die of curiosity. And you wouldn't want that! (hopefully)
