This is just something that popped in my head as I was doing Spanish homework (it actually popped in my head in spanish but I wasn't gonna write it in Spanish, ya know?) A short little thing about something I got curious about.
Summary: Dean asks Castiel an odd question and, after answering, Castiel gets a surprising response. Drabble
Rating: K+
"Cas?" Dean asks quietly, snuggled next to Castiel on the bed.
"Yes, Dean?" Castiel responds, his hand never ceasing its relentless pattern on Dean's palm.
"What would you do if you were leader of Hell?" The angel is taken aback by the question, unsure of what to say.
"I do not know, Dean, but not what Lucifer has done and is doing. Why?"
Dean surges on, ignoring Cas' question. "Let's say you did like Lucifer and you needed a vessel. Would you ask Sammy?"
This question catches him off guard too, but he feels no hesitation when he answers.
"Of course not. I'd never let Sam come to harm."
"Why?" Dean's question is so innocent, so curious. It reminds him of how young Dean is compared to himself, how unguarded Dean has become around him.
"If I hurt him, I hurt you. And I have grown to like Samuel, demon blood or no." With a start, he realizes it is true. He did like Sam, with all his faults and imperfections; he is Dean's mirror half, his blood runs through his veins as well as the demon's. He has a different fire than Dean's and it keeps Dean and Sam always bickering like an old married couple, but is endearing nonetheless. He is the one Dean loves the most besides Castiel himself.
Dean snuggles closer. "Good, 'cause he'd say yes to you."
