Chapter 1 - Awakening
"Wha-? Where am I?" I mutter as I get up and look around. I appear to be in the middle of the forest somewhere and I can't remember how I got here. Yelling for help yields nothing except some ruffling grass among the trees. As I make my way out of the words some strange looking creatures lunge at me and I run. I suddenly trip and start tumbling down a steep hill.
I wake up in a bed inside of a cozy house. I spot a man sitting at a table looking out a window. As he hears me wake up he walks over to the bed and stands beside me.
"Hello there, you took a nasty fall down that hill there. Anyways, what were you doing climbing Mt. Coronet without any Pokemon or supplies?"
I am completely confused with what this man is saying but I don't want to draw too much attention to myself so I just reply vaguely, "I'm not sure, it's all foggy. I don't really know what happened."
"Okay son, I hope you find your way home before night falls," the man mentioned as he brought me to the door.
I have no clue where I am or what these Pokemon things are. Fear starts to pour over me as I am completely lost and don't remember anything about what is going on. After many attempts at remembering things, all I can remember is that my name is Jason and remember visiting with my mom yesterday. The taller grass seems to house these creatures that try to attack me so I run as fast as I can to get through them. There is a large building with a door ahead so I decide to go in that direction. Inside there isn't anything other than a few people so I run through it to the other end. Large buildings appear to my left and I feel relieved to spot many other people.
I steadily walk down the paved streets of the city and I read the building's signs. There is a contest hall, gym, Pokemon center, and Pokemart in this city which is named Hearthome. I have no idea what any of these buildings or businesses are so I go in the Pokemon center to look around.
"Hello, and welcome to the Pokemon center! Do you want me to heal your Pokemon?" the lady with pink hair behind the counter asks.
I respectfully decline as I walk around and inspect the building. There isn't anything that aids me in figuring out where I am or what happened to me. Back on the streets of Hearthome I avoid everyone and exit the city. Back the way I came near the man's house I journey into the woods searching for clues.
A clearing opens up and I find a gold locket with two pictures inside of it. I don't recognize any of the people from the pictures but I decide to take the locket anyway. After further exploration in the woods I come across a hollow log just a little larger than me. I break the top half of the log off and climb into it. Drifting off into a deep sleep is calming as I hope to remember more details in the morning.
