Jealousy is Harsh
A more realistic and accurate school AU, with more angst, and another weird ship!
A year ago, invitations were sent out to Valoran's most elite teenagers and children. A new town was being built. A town around a school. The letters talked about it being the epicentre of new education, and education for those who were most deserving of it. They were asked to move in on the day after the homes were finished being built, and attend school two days after. Of course, everybody that was asked accepted; they had lives they wanted to escape from, new adventures to seek, or things to prove. And as a result, moving vans and cars packed to the brim flooded into the town on the exact date.
Some of the new students were from noble families, some from common ones, and a few even from the slums. Already, some of the soon-to-be students were giving each other harsh looks because it was obvious where most of them were from. Noxians and Demacians were housed on opposite sides of the town, as well as Zaunites and Piltovians, respectively.
However, there was one family that fit neither category.
Most peoples heads turned as the roar of a motorcycle shook the quiet air. The bike was adorned in graffiti, mostly in light blue and pink paint. Two people were sat on it, the person on the back making hand signs to the driver. After a few seconds of pointing, the bike slowed to a stop in front of one of the yet unoccupied houses and finally silenced. The person on the back jumped off and stretched, whilst the driver took their helmet off and shook their head, revealing a mass of messy, pink hair.
"This house is huge!" The other person pulled their own helmet off, and two ankle length, teal braids flowed down to the floor. "Why would they give us a house like this?!"
"Because there's three of us?" The keys were pulled out of the bike as their owner got up, helmet under her arm. "Catch!" She threw them to the other girl and smiled as she ran to the door to unlock it.
"My, you don't look like you brought much." Their neighbours on both sides had arrived an hour ago; all of them from Ionia. The person that had approached them lived to the left of them, a dark haired teenager who wore a tail and ears that looked too realistic. She approached with a smile on her face, golden eyes shimmering.
"Our brother is following with our stuff." She grinned back, crinkling the tattoo on her right cheek. "Are you our neighbour?"
"One of them." The fox extended a hand. "I'm Ahri. I'll be living with my friend, Karma."
"Vi." She gripped her hand and shook it. "Sucks for you, though. My sister, Jinx, and my brother, Ekko, explode things a lot." Ahri's realistic tail started to sway from side to seas she rose an eyebrow.
"Those are some unique names." Vi just shrugged. "If you come over to apologise for the noise, I don't think that I'll mind." The fox purred, taking a step closer. Before she could respond, Jinx ran out of the house without her jacket, helmet, and boots leaving her in a pair of thick jeans, and a torn sleeveless shirt that revealed most of her tattoos and skin. She screamed for Vi and threw herself at her. It was common for the two of them, and Vi let go of Ahri's hand to turn and catch her sister, who hooked her ankles around her waist.
"What's up?" Vi asked, glancing to the helmet she had to drop. Ahri had a horrified look on her face, and her strangely realistic fox ears were flattened against her head.
"The furniture inside is weird!"
"There's actually things in there?" Jinx jumped back to the floor and ran into the house, shouting incoherently. As Vi turned back to Ahri, she gave her a smile and a shrug. "I'm used to it."
"What's the problem with furniture?" Ahri squatted down to lift Vi's helmet up and handed it to her.
"She's just not used to having any." The teen said that as if it was normal and started to walk towards the house. "Wanna come in?"
"If it gets me out of watching Karma decorate, I would love to." Ahri followed Vi, tail still moving through the air. Jinx's jacket and helmet were thrown onto a couch in the middle of the large room; a few feet away from a dark wood table. The walls were pale, and the carpet was dark, but it was a lot more than Vi expected, due to her expression. She looked around the room in shock. Jinx was nowhere to be seen, but that wasn't the concern.
"Geez, this place is amazing." Ahri raised an eyebrow at her new friend.
"It's bare." She replied. "There aren't any decorations."
"Yeah, but the walls don't have holes in!" Vi didn't notice Ahri's surprised face, putting her helmet and jacket down onto the couch and peering through a window in the wall that spread more than halfway across the room. "Is that a kitchen?" As she walked across the room, light footsteps ran across the upstairs floor. These sisters are weirdly similar.
"You're a very strange person." Ahri called out, walking towards the kitchen that Vi had walked into. The u-shaped stairs were in a corner of the room, the wall that they were against being part of a bathroom. The Gumiho jumped and put a hand over her chest as Jinx ran downstairs with the full intention of jumping on her sister, but froze when she saw Ahri. "Uhm, kitchen."
"Thanks." Jinx ran towards the kitchen, followed by Vi laughing.
"There you are." A slightly older teenager walked through the open door, dressed in a sleeveless blue and gold robe, her short brown hair flattened slightly by a golden crown, and the makeup around her eyes came to two points underneath them. "I guess that the neighbours have arrived?"
"They're weird, Karma." As if to prove that point, Vi walked back into the room with Jinx over her shoulder, resting on her stomach.
"Hey! What's up?" Jinx grinned, making Vi wince by grabbing a fistful of her hair.
"I can already see that the two of you are adventurous people." Karma smiled, taking a few steps forward and extending her hand. "My name is Karma. Ahri and I come from Ionia."
"Jinx!" The teen wiggled herself forward and grabbed her hand. "This is Vi!"
"Hey, don't forget about me!" All four of them looked to the door where a shorter boy walked inside, twirling battered car keys around his finger. "The names Ekko, I'm these two weirdos' brother." He was wearing both a baggy t-shirt and a baggy pair of shorts, with his hair made up in a white mohawk and a white hourglass painted on his face. "Damn, this is a nice place."
"It's nice to meet you, too." Karma shook his hand.
"You took your time getting here, Ek." Vi grinned, putting Jinx onto her feet.
"I can't break laws like you do in that thing." He huffed, jabbing a thumb over his shoulder, pointing at a rusty and battered car that was parked behind her bike. "C'mon, get your ass out there and unpack."
"Sometimes, being the muscle sucks." Vi huffed, making Ahri laugh by pulling a face at her as she passed.

In the morning, the students had settled in to their new houses, and a lot of them had gotten up and left the house to explore the small town. The school stood at the far east of the town, blocking off part of the sun and bathing the road in shadow. It was an intimidating building, the front of it extending out further from the two 'wings'. The courtyard had a large fountain in the middle, filling the air with the soft sound of running water. A few people had come to look at the school, anticipating the start of their new education the next day.
As Vi walked over, wearing ripped jeans, a grey, graffiti t-shirt, knee high studded boots, and smoking a cigarette, people looked over. Some of the gathered students were of a higher class, so seeing somebody who looked quite so... messy, was a shock to them.
"Excuse me?" She looked to the guy that was walking over to her. He was about her height, with short, brown hair, a clean shaven face, and a suit, minus the jacket. "Are you lost?"
"Why would I be lost?" Vi asked, taking another drag on her cigarette and blowing the smoke in the opposite direction of the guy that walked up to her.
"You're, just, ah,"
"Not rich as fuck?" She asked, flashing him a grin. "I didn't expect to hear that so soon."
"Well, with the kind of people I'm usually around, I don't think that I've ever seen anybody quite like you." He smiled, making Vi laugh.
"I'll take that as a compliment." She said, offering her hand. "I'm Vi."
"Jarvan." He smiled, gave her a firm handshake, and turned to face the school, folding his hands behind his back. It was rare for someone to not know him, and he was going to take advantage of being a regular friend to someone. "Do you know why you were invited to the school?"
"Fucked if I know." He seemed slightly shocked at her language. "I'm just a street rat." Finishing her cigarette, Vi ground the butt of it out on the sole of her boot and looked around. "Ah, fuck. No bins."
"Street rats don't litter?" Jarvan asked, smiling at his own joke.
"This place is too... clean." With a shrug, she put it into her back pocket. "You looking around to get a feel for the place, too?"
"That, and I'm greeting the people from my city." Vi shrugged at that, then had a thought.
"Hey, I didn't get put with my city, do-"
"Why not?" Vi rolled her eyes at the interruption.
"My brother and sister are part of a rival city, and we stick together. Anyway, do you know where the Piltover part of this place is?" Jarvan sighed in relief internally when he didn't hear Noxus.
"It's next to the Demacian region, I'll take you there." He tilted his head in the correct direction and started to walk, giving Vi a smile as she fell into step next to him. "I forgot to say, it's nice to meet you."
"You're just trying to butter me up, Jar." Vi grinned, gently punching his arm.
"Jar?" He asked.
"It's a nickname. I nickname people." He still looked confused. "Has nobody ever given you a nickname before?"
"Never. People aside from my father only ever call me by my title." As soon as he said that, he cursed himself.
"Title? That's some fuckery I can't be fucked with." That wasn't the reaction that he was expecting, but was thankful that she hadn't found out about him being royalty. After another minute of walking, Vi looked around and stopped, staring across the street.
"Is everything okay, Vi?" Jarvan asked, stopping to look in the same direction.
"I know that car." Vi jogged across the road, with Jarvan following closely. He stopped at the end of the path leading to the house and watched her look through the window.
"You can't do that!" He went ignored as Vi knocked and waited. A few moments passed before the door opened, an annoyed girl with sleek brown hair, ice blue eyes, and a surprisingly soft face opened the door. As soon as what was happening registered for her, every ounce of annoyance vanished, replaced by surprise.
"Vi!" She called out, roughly pulling her down into a hug with arms around the punk girl's neck. "I hoped that you would be here!"
"I missed you too, Cait!" Jarvan breathed a sigh of relief when Vi didn't get slapped. He walked over with a smile as the two teenagers hugged each other tightly. You could almost see the happiness radiating from them."Is Jayce around? You guys have got to be roomies, right?"
"He went for a walk, you should..." As Caitlyn leaned back to look her friend in the face, she saw Jarvan behind her. "Oh, dear."
"Ah, somebody who knows who I am." He chuckled, raising a hand when she started to speak again. "No need to address me that way. I am as much of a student as you are."
"He was just showing me where the Piltover part of the city is." Vi grinned, turning around and putting her arms over Caitlyn's shoulders. "You've always told me about my weird fucking way of making friends, Cait."
"You're right; I shouldn't even be surprised." She smiled, looking up at the Prince. "It's nice to meet you, your majesty."
"Please, call me Jarvan." Vi gave both of them confused looks.
"Alright, then. Jarvan, would you and Vi like to come in for a drink?"
"Oh, hell yeah! You've got to hear the shit that's happened in the past few months!" Vi smiled, following her into the nicely decorated house, and Jarvan closed the door behind him.
A bit of a confusing start, but this is gonna be fun.
