Lily Says Goodbye

"Lily Evans you get back here right now!"

"Or what?"

"You'll regret it if you leave Lily!"

"You really think I will? This is the muggle world you're forcing me to live in Tuney, and besides I thought you hated me? Always calling me a freak, putting your nose up in the air at me, why the sudden change of heart?"

"You won't be able to live on your own if you leave Lily, and I'd rather have to put up with you and know you're safe than be rid of you and constantly worry you're in danger. You're the one who's been telling me how dangerous it is out there!"

"I'm 18 Tuney, I've been a legal adult for a year now by Wizarding standards and I passed my N.E.W.T.'s with all O's, I think I can take care of myself thanks. Living like this is only holding me back, putting me in more danger. The death eaters are looking for mudbloods; they're killing muggles for fun Tuney. Me staying is only putting you in more danger," Lily turned to leave, blinking back tears.

"You won't last a day out there Lily, I can feel it!" Petunia pleaded, making a mad grab for Lily's hand.

"I guess we'll find out soon enough. If you never hear from me again, just think of me as sitting in some exotic place, sipping champagne and wondering how worried I can make you," Lily intentionally goaded her sister, knowing that making her mad enough would be the only way Petunia would let her go. Lily needed to go, for everyone's sake. Petunia stiffened.

"You always were a troubled kid. Why on earth did you have to turn out the way you are?" Tuney spat, dropping Lily's hand like it was a red-hot poker.

"Come on Tuney, we all know I got the better genes," Lily retorted as she walked out her front door for the final time.

"Where will you go? You have no other home!" Tuney shrieked, a slight tone of desperation in her voice.

"James will take me in, I know he will. He always invited me over for the holidays," she said the last part quietly, as if trying to convince herself.
