The Brightest Star in all the Sky
A/N:
This is the first fic I've ever put online, so constructive criticism is very welcome. This fic is SLASH, you've been warned, so please no flames as they will be completely ignored or used to burn the flamers (oh how ironic that would be). Thanks.Disclaimer:
I am not JK Rowling, therefore I own none of the characters portrayed in this fic. Enough said.On the edge of an old, musty bed sat a tired and worn looking man. Golden hair streaked with silver fell into shockingly amber eyes streaked, also with a haunting silver color. The amber eyes were filled with grief and the wet tears released so much pain that it was almost tangible in the air surrounding him.
His breathing was slow and shaky as his hand lifted the cover of a small wooden box that was decorated with a stag, dog, rat and wolf. His hands fumbled with the clasp, a small piece of metal wrought into the shape of a Celtic eternity knot.
Eternity, it should have been eternity. It was not meant to happen this way, but fate's twisted claws had already entwined the marauders in it's sick but inescapable grip long ago. Peter should have been stronger, more brave, not the sickly coward that now served Voldemort and answered to the demon's every beck and call. Lily and James should have been there to see Harry. They should have been there to see him grow and become a man. They should have died old, and warm in their beds. And Sirius, he should be here, with his arms around Remus to wipe his tears away, and to place a gentle kiss on his lips. But they were all gone, there was no eternity, there was no hope, no peace, and no rest. There were no more warm nights in Sirius's arms, no more pranks to play at Hogwarts. No, now all that was left of the Marauders was Remus and his enveloping grief.
Remus opened the box and began to leaf through the wizard pictures the box contained. He had a lot of Sirius, especially young Sirius. Pitch black hair fell into even blacker eyes that, despite their darkness, twinkled with an unearthly brightness. Sirius, the brightest star in all the sky; Remus's brightest star. It seemed so unfair that some worthless star would be allowed to last for eons while Remus's Sirius was gone so soon. But maybe the star wasn't so worthless, maybe Sirius would last forever inside that star, the brightest in all the sky.
The bed sprung up to it's normal shape as Remus rose, closing the box and placing it gently on the dresser. He pulled his cloak out of the closet and left his small flat, to stargaze, to forever admire his Sirius, the brightest star in all his sky.
